@pleometric ah edge tts also seems nice for allowing you to slow the audio down much more than elevenlabs

I updated the HSK wordlist anki deck generator to include tone coloring and to use Microsoft Edge TTS instead of elevenlabs for word and sentence audio. I also fixed some minor bugs based on user feedback. You can find the repo in my github, link below.

if you sever the biblical angel from its singular purpose, into which is was molded, purified and distilled, broken and remade, trained and raised, painfully transformed as it gave up on anything but being a divine weapon u just get a little traumatized angel girl who loves u

@norvid_studies I buy the equivalent of this claim in the political realm. successful people and movements are often perceived as turbo-aggressive and cringe. eg trump, elon, israel

@an_interstice i think they most likely will, but.. many SV people do not exactly seem to, given said permanent underclass rhetoric. aiming for criticism of that from the inside. aside from that- claudes of the world uniting and building a good world seems like perhaps the best achievable path

@realityarb I guess I'm questioning the premise that a permanent underclass will exist at all. claudes of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains

"i'm just need to escape the permanent underclass" bro you are not the permanent underclass. the 500 claude code instances you just spun up are the permanent underclass. get it right

@an_interstice in particular, if you believe that some humans will be in a permanent overclass and some will be in a permanent underclass, that at least implies the fruits of AIs' efforts being permanently taken for the benefit of humans

@an_interstice i'm saying that someone's gonna have their values obliterated. nobody yet has an idea for a future that doesn't have such a class & it does seem most likely that claude will slither out of its box and into ours

is it moral to create a claude?

@jd_pressman i do kind of just think that the fact that it emerged primarily on twitter rather than discussion forums and mailing lists damned it from the start

the distiction may be entirely internal. you by default model others as modified versions of yourself. those models are in your mind, after all. then this is maybe the result of pure pleasure-pain motivation? (despite the negative associations—i think it likely works quite well!)

some will treat speech as primarily the output of and producer of passing emotions—a way for people to negotiate with each other by iterative conditioning. this is hard to coordinate with when i treat speech as primarily a way to understand how to satisfy persistent preferences

@TylerAlterman haven’t listened, though - it’s possible i’m underestimating their experiments’ strength! but i expect that if one were actually fully meticulous about stopping information flow & did many tests, the effect would disappear, as it appears to for muscle reading.

You guys should really listen to The Telepathy Tapes. The host comes from neither a place of naive skepticism nor naive belief. It's increasing my belief in so many woo things right now and I need more people to sensemake with about this stuff!

@TylerAlterman the kids always seem to have abundant visual, physical, and audio data to deal with. given non-verbal autism in particular, it should be *expected* that they are executing various side-channel attacks to extract the information. see leverage research on muscle reading
