@Adamkblat I don’t always agree with you Adam, but this is one I’m on the same page, 100%! These are both special players and levels ahead of the rest of the draft. You take them if they’re there. Don’t overthink it Vancouver!

There are a couple options for the #Canucks at third overall but all debates should stop if McKenna or Stenberg are available. If either one is sitting there at three, that is the pick. Best player available. End of story.

It’s safe to say Leo Carlsson is better than Connor Bedard! If you are the Toronto Maple Leafs why wouldn’t you look at that because this is the same exact situation with Gavin McKenna and Ivar Stenberg! McKenna is more flashy but Stenberg is better

@ThomasDrance @kaitalkscanucks How much of this is the player vs the team though? If roles were reversed, are confident Benson would be finding his groove in Vancouver with a team as bad as them and dressing room as awful as theirs?

@kaitalkscanucks The problem is that Benson is great + helping a good team win at 20. And Willander could barely keep his head above water adjusted to playing on the worst team in hockey at 20.
The former profile usually leads to a guy being a star at 23-26. The latter profile could be anything.

Benson is great, he would have been a great Canuck. But Willander is also great. High character, high compete, loads of skill and speed. Check in on both players in 5 years and I think they’ll both be having great careers.

@jabo_vancouver @Zer0PucksGiven I totally agree, I’m just some guy on the internet. Maybe I’m wrong. But this franchise has such a bad track record of mistakes that when they’re talking about passing up on what many view as best player in the draft, to take someone associated with fit, it leaves you uneasy.

@realmarkwilson @Zer0PucksGiven I could make the argument that you are biased because you know what his father turned into as an NHL player from a top 10 pick. It works both ways. The fact is that no one knows. It's the job of the pro scouts to project what his ceiling is, not yours or mine.

@jabo_vancouver @Zer0PucksGiven I get it and can see why people would be excited about Caleb, it’s a great story arc too but I worry we’re not seeing the forest through the trees. Instead convincing ourselves to take Bo Horvat over a Leo Carlsson (not comparing the actual players, just the franchise impact)

@jabo_vancouver @Zer0PucksGiven It’s not an attack on Malhotra, but passing on a player who is producing in one of the top MEN’S LEAGUES, in his draft year, at a rate comparable to some of the best names in the modern era to come out of Sweden is a too risky! This kid is NHL ready and showing it.

@Zer0PucksGiven Shane Malloy, who knows more about these players than we do, has Malhotra ahead of Stenberg. I think it's bizarre that fans are dismissing him, most who have never seen him play.
