Correct in terms of the 60s and 70s, however, I personally believe those ideas have faded out strongly. To call Trump a neocon wouldn’t make sense either because he doesn’t want to build a democracy. He wants to leave Iranians to figure it out for themselves. Since neocon means “new conservative” I would argue that the new conservatives are becoming TOTAL isolationists. Even in things that are very much in our national interest, such as making sure Iran doesn’t drop a sun on our heads. This is strictly an opinion, but I think that Massie is currently at the head of what we could consider to be the new neocons. Again, very much an opinion, but I believe it’s backed with decent evidence.
