Dear @LeatherBTC,
I kindly ask you to stop showing all the hops a swap goes through in the Activity tab.
It is completely unnecessary and ruins the user experience.
I took over as GM last year and things are changing. Stay tuned for a more clear public roadmap. I also plan on creating a user cohort to discuss the product at least quarterly.
A bunch of major fundamental improvements have been in flight, you just happen to be talking about this as we progressively build these changes - you aren't sparking these changes, but user feedback is going to be more core to our planning work streams this year.
Making these and many other changes we have opted to invest in a much more foundational architectural approach for how we fetch and aggregate data, making changes to these features across extension / web / mobile easier to build and maintain. However that took a bit of an "invisible" foundational investment of time.
When these small tweaks to the presentation layer come - and they are coming very soon - you'll notice a much faster overall experience as well. And we can then iterate on those knowing that they scale across our products and with higher user usage.
Understand, Will. I hope the professional process is going well, I respect that. I often think about how to simplify things and appreciate that it’s not easy.
However, if we zoom out and look at how long it has taken Leather Wallet as an organization to consolidate various hops into one simple display:
We could say since 2018. Or, to be more generous, counting from the major rebrand in 2023.
1. Do we honestly tell ourselves as an organization (not any individual, regardless of who has been in charge) that more than 2+ years is an acceptable length of time, and we still don’t have a simple consolidated way to view a user’s actions in browser extension?
2. And that it takes someone like me speaking out to move it higher on the priority list? (Or maybe it didn’t idk)
It shouldn’t be this way. How we incorporate user feedback into the process should be improved (and faster), in my opinion.
@herogamer21btc@DeOrganizedBTC@LeatherBTC I am giving a bit of clarity into our thinking, don't mistake that for overthinking, nor my willingness to share with a lack of decisiveness.
I've spent the last decade+ of my career doing this and it's not "just that simple". Making things simple is hard and takes thought.
Why are we overthinking it and having debates??
What's there to debate about??
I'd rather see decisive decisions and actions.
Analysis paralysis.
Every minute not changed for the users, users suffer unnecessarily.
I'd suggest taking a look what's out there already.
Already plenty of very good examples allover crypto wallets including Xverse.
Just try other wallets. Compare the user experiences and take works. It's really that simple.
+ When I make simple transfer, I also expect to see 1 line item not 2. Leather is still using 2 line items for a simple transfer, or receiving a transfer. Unnecessarily.

@DeOrganizedBTC@herogamer21btc@LeatherBTC Yeah there are a lot of ways we're exploring improving this.
Right now we're looking at a simplified swap list item and debating whether or not it is too simple.
Leather mobile just got a major glow up ✨
