@daniel_carvalho @BrendanEich Well, we created Firefox too. Should feel at home. Brave is the upgrade.
English

@rebron @BrendanEich Yeah, I’m a historically long Firefox user.
English

@BrendanEich please can we be able to just set a local html file as the new tab page, kinda hard to believe this option isn’t available.
English

@daniel_carvalho @BrendanEich We can clean this up to make it more obvious. Similar UX to Firefox and what is believable is that it's not an option in Chrome.
English

@daniel_carvalho @BrendanEich This option is available, just not smooth and easy as we'd like as it's via setting the homepage. Does this work for you? And you can also hide the Home button again.

@nulllzero @kagamidefense @_BetterDiscord_ Let a thousand browsers bloom as gerv liked to say. Use whatever browser you like the best. We try to put our best foot forward at Brave and our collective team history of building browsers I think is pretty good.
English

@nulllzero @kagamidefense @_BetterDiscord_ Yes. A mistake I made for missing the checks/test cases for a bookmarked site/typed-in url ranking lower than the suggestion service we were testing. And we do retros to learn from our mistakes because we do still make them.
English

@The_X_Architect @brave Is this on YouTube? Can you describe what you mean by flaky? And how are you getting into PIP mode via media controls button/icon or when switching tabs? If you can, a video would be best to see what's happening.
English

@BandicootSVK @_didii1 @_BetterDiscord_ I wouldn't recommend it and I'd stick with Brave Search. Our results are often cleaner.

English

@BandicootSVK @_didii1 @_BetterDiscord_ You can set Google search in Brave if you want, it's just settings. Anti-AI Filter list too among other cool filters, YouTube shorts, etc.

English

@kagamidefense @_BetterDiscord_ Not quite. It was a bug with a bookmarked site and a suggestion service that we fixed and removed altogether a long, long time ago.
English

@_BetterDiscord_ I do know about the history, I remember when they would redirect you to a referral link when you visited some crypto website
I'm open to suggestions for other chromium-based browsers focusing privacy
English

@profdiggity @BrendanEich @brave @GetPrivacySafe @Searx_engine @firefox a simple search would've done it for you, we have the documentation for it too in our Help Center

English

@BrendanEich @brave @GetPrivacySafe @Searx_engine I'm not at that machine atm. Appreciate the swift reply @BrendanEich ! Its Leo AI.
I hope it can be disabled, and I respect your work and @brave... But if this is a deep setting to disable a default that makes ur criticism of @firefox less impactful. No #AI by default pls.
English

Though this is true, I've removed @brave search completely, replaced it with our @GetPrivacySafe search (privacysafe.is @Searx_engine ) and Brave still asks me to use the #AI search when I start typing. No way to remove that, at least not that I can find.
BrendanEich@BrendanEich
@ErisButRacist @brave @ShyOwl888 That's the plan. You have to read into the X thread to find the link to it, but please see the blog post at brave.com/blog/ai-browsi…, specifically this part: "Like all AI features in Brave, AI browsing is completely optional...".
English

@profdiggity @BrendanEich @brave @GetPrivacySafe @Searx_engine @firefox Do you mean the "Ask Leo" part here? You can hide it in brave://settings/appearance

@BrendanEich @olafura update.vivaldi.com/update/1.0/rel… what I'm seeing now. update this one too when you get a chance.

English

@BrendanEich @olafura @olafura I have `7.7.3851.61` with `CR: 142.0.7444.237` on Windows and macOS. Can you update your `latest.html` wasn't clear if you cherry picked the fix in.
English

Actually Vivaldi has release it, and even did so before Brave :-)

Yesterday, Brave team was quick on critical security bug fix release. Edge for Windows team too. Not sure who was “first”, but macOS demerit to MS (below). Dia and ChatGPT Atlas soon after, yesterday. Perplexity, Opera Neon, Edge for macOS, and Vivaldi are still not up to date.

@EddyVinckk @addyosmani 2 years ago. Vertical tabs + split view is cool. Oh and the ad blocking, don't forget that ad blocking. :-)

Code execution in Brave browser-ai (aka Leo; not to be confused with ask.brave.com or Search summarizer), in Brave Nightly.

@_r3t0_ @brave @BrendanEich It's further along than that. We're starting to land pieces from here: github.com/brave/brave-co…

Hey @brave, @BrendanEich, @rebron
What happened to #multiaccount #containers it's been in the works since quite a while now but never released?
Multiple accounts is still a major annoyance almost none of the providers Google, Microsoft, Atlassian are able to do it properly.
English

@krishdotdev Some of us gave you both. Firefox 21 years ago and then Brave as the upgrade 15 years later. Brave has the same dev tools as Chrome plus ability to ask Claude other models for advice via our sidebar.
