In 1960 only 4% of the population was Hispanic. 14% were foreign-born and 30% were their children. A majority had a heritage-based connection to the US. Today more ~20% of the population is Hispanic and 33% are foreign-born (22.4m) and another 34% are their children (23.12m). We can and should be sending these immigrant communities home.

Newell was arrested shortly after posting the threats and pleaded guilty to communicating online threats last November. On March 27, 2026, U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III handed down the two-year sentence in federal court in Raleigh.
