I see the efforts to tackle misinformation are going great on here. This isn't a real Musk tweet - but it came up as a recommendation in my notifications. The more desperately they try and tighten their grip the more it all falls apart.

@TobyManning @leninology The evidence is anecdotal. I have experienced this in my personal work and spoken to countless people in public facing roles who are privately skeptical of many claims made by "woke" left but who prefer to keep that to themselves so as not to rock the boat.

Non-debate. Corbyn, Sanders etc “aspire to represent”. Useful work. Not everyone does politics that way, nor should they. I’m suspicious of “abolition”, but the criticism that it’s “alien” to majority is a dialectical failure. Most things worth fighting for begin as fringe ideas.

The reason the “fairness in sports thing” is a successful tactical wedge is because it’s where terfs have a point. Terfs also have a bunch of fringe and unpleasant ideas which should see them isolated, but they get a free pass because anyone sympathetic to trans rights but who thinks there could be some conflict between trans rights and womens rights in certain domains is labelled a revolting terf and never wants to speak on the issue again.

@Tom_Gann Novara make the mistake of trying to be fair and friendly to the other side. There is no room for this in class based politics.

I think I I’ve said this before but an issue with Novara (and basically with any full time left intellectual) is work wise they *do* exist in a bubble. The response to that is to mechanically derive the attitudes of “ordinary people” from the media.

I'm mostly on Bluesky these days and it's been incredible watching the flood of people leaving this place and arriving there recently. The right is never satisfied with winning as long as they know that someone somewhere is still disagreeing with them.
