Goodbye friends, I'm out of here. Disgusted by the owner of this platform, and the algorithm too, I’m relocating to Instagram and Threads. See you there.

RIP The great Quincy Jones, who kindly did the first interview for my book Sittin’ In: Jazz Clubs of the 1940s and 50s, hipped me to the fact that these were the places Jim Crow started to break down, and was so supportive of the book. I owe you!

@PatThomas1964 Pt 2: we went back the next night, my friend got tickets to the second show, and when we got out at about 3 AM, his car had been towed. We barely cared, we were so high from what we'd just seen. Astounding that Bruce and the band were playing two shows a night!

October 27th 1975 - during ‘Born in the USA’ era, I heard so much ‘The Boss’ adulation, thought I was gonna puke. But the more I dive into the early years leading up to these cover stories I get it. His early nexus of Dylan and Van Morrison was sublime, especially on stage.

@PatThomas1964 Happily, I was introduced to Bruce with no hype. A friend of mine worked at Tower Records and got free tickets to see him at The Roxy when Born to Run was released. I’d never heard of him. Our minds were completely blown.
