@NoContextBrits They’re wrong about their own product then, and if you want proof, look at their gluten free chocolate biscuits which genuinely do have the chocolate on the bottom

Of course people are doing the “yes but the right was split” discourse as expected. But so was the left, and if you tot up the popular vote into just ‘left’ and ‘right,’ it’s still a massive lead for left. The main, Britain-wide left parties add up to 52.7%

One of the most striking things for me is that *lots* of the predictions are saying Labour will win Worthing West, the constituency where Peter Bottomley has been MP continuously since roughly the reign of William IV

@garybrannan Does the date difference only exist becasue of time zone, or is it earlier for the Americans in absolute terms? Becasue the thing of “Americans must always get to watch everything first” is a bit galling when it’s literally a British show

Some dating info on the flashback in the #StarTrekProdigy episode "Kobayashi": Stardate 43929 is towards the end of TNG season 3, around the same time as "Ménage à Troi", set in the year 2366. 17 years later thus is the year 2383.

I might start posting recycled-robot-themed drawings instead. Not sure yet as presumably the perspective will be very poor, since I am pathologically incapable of measuring.

As it happens, I am (probably) about to lose my workshop space for at least 2 years, so big making will cease to be an option anyway (just after it was useable again, too). In the meantime, I’m going to focus on the thing I’m already good at (composing) and try drawing.

I have come to the conclusion that genuinely, I’m not clever enough for making, I literally to bot improve, ever. Just like literally every project I’ve ever attempted, I have triple checked every single measurement, and the final article is too big in *every* dimension.

Thinking about it, maybe it’s a safety feature. “Is this your first time owning one of these? Then you’re not experienced enough to use it, leave it in the box.”

In all seriousness, why do power tool manufacturers insist on making them impossible to set up without prior, secret knowledge? Why, if you’re locking the saw blade down for packaging, would you not explain anywhere how to unlock it? It’s absolutely infuriating

@CleavleyWorks @SueArcher6 It’s called an Einhell Tc-Ts 200. It’s a smallish portable table saw. There is a little bit of play in the arbor, if I’ve understood correctly which bit is the arbor (basically, the back piece which holds the blade in place on the motor shaft)

@recycledrobotix @SueArcher6 Maker_of_Things here, again. Ahh, that doesn't look good. What make and model is it. I will see if there is a manual or advice on it. It shouldn't be like that, and I can't see how that has happened. I'm going to use this account to save Sue handing me her laptop.

#MakerHelp requested: the blade is touching the blade guard on my new table saw; obviously can’t use it safely until resolved but I cannot find anything to change (apart from cut at a significant angle always) and the instruction don’t help. Any suggestions?!

@SueArcher6 Update: cannot move the table relative the blade. The actual bit that hold the blade (collet?) is WAY too far across and I cannot make it move much. I tried, and managed slightly but then it was wonky. Here’s a video of me rotating it by hand - I don’t *think* the blade is bent…

@SueArcher6 It’s brand new out of the box; I didn’t see anything that sounded like that in the instruction book but I’m going to have another look becasue I haven’t tried to find a way to do that yet. Watch this space…

Currently 15 degree angle or more necessary for it not to touch - clearly not a minor adjustment!

Me: I know, I’ll save time and effort by doing this task quickly with a power tool instead of spending hours by hand. The power tool: *takes hours to set up because I’m just searching my workshop and house for other, smaller tools*

I really think new power tools should have to be sold with a label that says “it’s impossible to set this up without a pair of pliers, and yours are missing so buy a new pair”
