Tonight’s meal is going to be a homemade whipped feta dip with homemade sourdough baguette slices toasted with olive oil & garlic to start, paired with a Verdejo wine.
Then for the main course, a grass fed garlic butter rosemary ribeye, baked potato with a nice crispy, garlicky skin, loaded with all the fixings, freshly cooked bacon. A homemade Caesar salad (homemade dressing) with pecorino romano cheese from Italy grated on top, a slice of freshly baked sourdough & butter. Served with a Pinot noir from Napa valley.
Then for dessert, brownies from scratch.
Date night can be at home too!

@JamesRaxz Honestly, more than anything, this just shows to me how English is just going to become the global default one way or another. China might win the coming conflict, but English will still be dominant because it's just that much easier to use for, well, everything

I’m in Germany and every time I try to speak German (and I don’t think my Berliner German is terrible now) to even get a coffee they show me mercy and speak English.

Feeling a hyperfixation coming on that is all rooted in mythology and starts with me finding a pretty set of the Odyssey, Iliad, and Aeneid to read and display.

I do believe it was intentional to relate The Odyssey to the themes in Oppenheimer. It’s a change from the source material but it works out beautifully. Without being outright political Nolan is making a clear stance on his views. It all comes together in the third act, especially at the end. It makes me wonder if he’s now going to focus on these kinds of stories in the future.

State behavior is partly driven by capabilities. I have heard many confidently say that Chinese behavior will not change as their military expands. But when China has multiple ocean-going carrier groups in a decade, we should anticipate that their approach to shaping the world will change.
