We’ve been protecting orangutans since 2007. We can't do it alone. We need YOUR help. ❤️🦧 https://t.co/7AykFTYJty Bored Ape Julius #BAYC 2238

Orangutan Outreach 🦧❤️🌳
These teams are tracking orangutans who were reintroduced following rescue from illegal captivity and rehabilitation by human caregivers. Due to the nature of the rehabilitation process, during which a human surrogate mother must replace a missing orangutan mother, most of the orangutans are already habituated to the teams at the time of their release. However, if an orangutan does show high levels of stress by vocalizing or gesturing there are measures that the team is trained to take. First off, they remain quiet and increase their distance from the orangutan who is showing signs of stress. They will not make eye contact and give them time to relax. 99% of the time this is enough. In the rare cases when an orangutan shows persistent, extended signs of stress, once the team confirms that the orangutan is physically healthy, they will leave for the day and only return the following month to check on their health status.
