@dren_braves They're doing the dodgers strategy where each pitcher spends some time on the IL during the season, so that way they're all fresh for the postseason

Spencer Strider isn't actually injured, rather the team wants him on a strict innings limit and they're also still tweaking his mechanics. they also don't want him pitching in cooler weather.

Fuentes will start in Bradenton today. But Weiss indicated the plan is still for Fuentes to open the season as a reliever. Jose Suarez will likely be the fifth starter. Martin Perez is among the candidates to fill Strider's void in the rotation.

Why do you keep citing a 50 game sample size from Smith like it’s a career norm? Smith - .436 SLG in a total of50 games last year where he carried a .345BABIP. Insanely small sample and lucky run. Here are Smiths SLG vs RHP in the last half decade 2025-436 2024-377 2023-398 2022- 291 2021- 343 Farmer-will be fine bc it’ll only be for a couple of months until Murphy and HSK come back who can hit LHP and we won’t see many LHP in that stretch. There is no one coming to relieve Smith

I’m not really concerned about it at all. I really like the depth that Didier and Ritchie offer this team right away if need be. I really like that they went out and got Tellez incase Dom flops and I really like both Farmer and Dubon against LHP. So you can slide Dubon to LF for a day or two against LHP and let Farmer play SS if need be. It’s not the sexiest roster ever, but it should work out just fine until Murphy and Kim return. Depth, depth, depth has certainly been the focus of AA this offseason. Except in the rotation, which is actually also deeper than most will acknowledge. Just not the quality of depth we had all hoped for.
