@erikmagraken I think the difference is specifics. Anyone could tell you repeated blows to the head/concussions is bad for you. But know exactly what that bad is, how quickly it could happen, and how “little” those blows can actually be is another story.

People say fighters know the risks and know what they are signing up for. My discussions with numerous athletes tells me otherwise.

@FolkstyleLeague Does this 3-3.5 point increase make people happy? Do we expect viewership numbers to jump accordingly? This is artificial points per match inflation. Not different than making a score goal worth two instead of 1 and then bragging about how more offense is occurring.

@erikmagraken Problem is the fighter becomes the bad guy, especially to his opponent, who will not get paid despite doing all but the preparation. Couple that with the limited “objective” evidence that often occurs with concussions and the limited education on them and this isn’t surprising.

There is nothing cowardly about withdrawring due to brain injury. In fact, in a sport where such a move is still shamed by many it is, if anything, brave.

Concussion takes as long as it takes to recover from. There is no magic timeframe. Traumatic brain injury deserves to be taken seriously. As disappointing as this must be it is still 100% the right move.

@McCannSportsLaw A national rule may entice the NCAA to monitor it. Right now there really is no incentive for the NCAA to try and oversee when there is arguably 50 different sets of rules that would require them to treat schools differently depending on what state they are located in.

Another day. Another NIL bill. To date, none has made it out of committee. None has had a vote. One day, one probably will. But this one seems unlikely to have traction with members of Congress who are wary of the federal government trying to do what the NCAA can't or won't.
