@henrywinter There's a flaw in your assessment/solution. If the academy grass roots is too focused on no.10s and inverted wingers and you say they aren't focused on 9s ok fine we will have less 9s but then explain why we have no decent tens or goal scoring inverted wingers?

30 years ago, Terry Venables could leave out Ian Wright for Euro 96 because he had Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham, Les Ferdinand and Robbie Fowler at centre-forward. Elite options at No 9 now? Basically, Harry Kane. Ollie Watkins, Dominic Solanke, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Danny Welbeck are below Kane’s level. Liam Delap needs to get the upward trajectory of his career back on track again. A “minor issue” benching/resting Kane will always be a major problem for England. FA coaches at St George’s Park debate why there are so few 9s emerging. Focus on 10s and wide attackers in academies, more teams playing only one centre-forward in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and cage styles leading to “ballers” not poachers are all reasons discussed. Line-leading skills, back-to-goal expertise, finishing prowess need re-developing. Because Kane is 32 and succession planning is required. #ENG

We don’t mind who supports our club, as long as they align with our values. Love the club like we do and you’re seen as one of us. Forcing division over ex players opinions is mental. And for the record, if you can’t appreciate what @Carra23 done for LFC, you certainly don’t see the game like we do. Second most appearances ever, a number that will not be beaten. 11 trophies, including FA Cup and European Cup. From 2004-2007 the debate was Terry or Carra. For me personally he was one of the best CB’s the club’s ever had. If we were going to battle, I’d want Jamie next to me! Wore his heart on his sleeve and gave everything he had for that red shirt. He may not have sprayed 40yard passes, but the notion that he was average is complete nonsense. Concentrated on defending and put everything he had into it. A top fella who does all sorts for local charities and supports many local businesses. A hero to many of us, but you’d never know it if you bumped into him coz he’s as grounded as they come. We didn’t “dream of a team of Carraghers” for nothing you know!!

🚨🔴 Jamie Carragher argued that Mohamed Salah will avoid a move to Saudi Arabia because he believes Salah still wants to compete at the highest level 👀✅: “I think Mo Salah, the way he’s driven like a Ronaldo, I don’t see the Saudi thing just yet. I can see him in Italy with one of the giants. I just think your career’s over when you go there (Saudi Arabia). I think he’ll still be looking at his Champions League record or how many goals he can get. I still think he thinks, ‘I’m still one of the best players, and me leaving now is not the end of my top-level career, I’ve still got something to give’.”

I'm not saying that Slot has to be Klopp because Klopp's one of a kind, but the difference in the way Klopp integrated himself into the community and the club is staggering. Has Slot ever done anything like this? Just don't think he gets it the way Klopp did.

🚨 #F1 manufacturers and the FIA have agreed a last-minute rule change to qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix in a bid to avoid energy management headaches. The single lap recharge limit - which was originally going to be 9MJ for Suzuka - will be dropped to 8MJ. This should reduce the need for excessive super clipping or lift-and-coast tactics in fight for grid positions.

Brighton deserved the win. But Brighton played 1 game in the 16 days before it. This was LFC’s 5th game in 16 days. Brighton performed better on the day - but I wonder how much freshness was a factor. #LFC #ReviewShow

@ThisIsFormu1a1 The real clue is Hamilton saying the gap appears in Q2, not Q1. That usually points to tyre prep and energy deployment timing, not a hidden engine mode.

🚨| A "party mode" in Mercedes F1 engine? Lando Norris rebuffs Lewis Hamilton's theory: — Lewis Hamilton suggested that Mercedes might still be using a "party mode" in qualifying, contributing to their dominance. Speaking to media, Hamilton remarked: “I was with Mercedes for a long, long time, so I know how it works there. In qualifying they have another mode that they're able to go to, a bit like a ‘party mode’ back in the day, and once they get to Q2 they switch that on, and we don't have that.” — Hamilton further explained the perceived advantage Mercedes holds during qualifying sessions: “And then in the race they obviously don't have that mode, so they still obviously have an advantage overall. We've got to figure out what that is, but there's something more they're able to extract, particularly in Q2. You see in Q1 we're not that far away, and then all of a sudden it's like a huge step.” — Lando Norris, however, dismissed Hamilton's theory when questioned about it. Speaking to media, Norris asserted: “We don't have that.” — When asked if he believed Mercedes had such a mode, Norris responded: “No. Sometimes when you're a bit off you create things in your head.” #lewishaamilton 🇬🇧 #scuderiaferrari 🇮🇹 #landonorris #mercedesamgf1 🇩🇪 VIA: [motorsport]
