One party is trying to do something — you can demand them to do more — but by saying "they're the same" and voting republican (like some did) you're voting against yourself

Because despite all of these charts everyone keeps throwing around my life really hasn't changed since 2020. And I think the loss of Kamala Harris reflects that most Americans believed she wasn't going to improve things for them either. Blame the voters all you want, but that's democracy for you.

Journalists and columnists are inevitably gonna use AI to write. That’s impossible to police. But we should, at least, make it deeply taboo to admit it publicly

I use AI to do research (i.e., find things to read, explain parts of academic papers I find ambiguous or confusing), transcribe interviews, generate pushback on my column thesis, suggest trims when I'm over my word count, sharpen podcast interview questions, and perform a final fact check on columns and editorials. But mostly it's compressing the ancillary tasks to the main job: reading, thinking, and writing.

@alexbronzini So you’re a Harvard student and your idea is that everyone ought to pretend that AI slop is in fact their own writing. Each successive generation is nuking what remains of the value of the credentials they seem to prize so highly. Shameful stuff but par for the course.

@alexbronzini What’s the problem with the use cases from the quoted tweet? I speak English as a third language and struggled a lot with the academic writing at first - and had to go to countless appointments with grad students who often contradicted one another. Claude would’ve been better

Claude Code on desktop lets you select DOM elements directly, much easier than describing which component you want updated! Claude gets the tag, classes, key styles, surrounding HTML, and a cropped screenshot. React apps also get the source file, component name and props
