@Mike_kim714 I was thinking about this very thing this morning. I saw many putts coming up way short or breaking differently than what was being read, and thought about how many guys watch the broadcast and take notes for their afternoon round. I guess they just have to have a great memory.

I’ve yet to see a rules official ask for a yardage book to check my notes. A lot of golf rules are self governed. All notes that I have gained by my own work is all legal. I can technically be on each green for hours and chart every putt and that is all legal. If I get it from a greens book and write it down, that is illegal. I can memorize all the numbers from a greens book if i have that good of memory. For ex, there are times during a weather delay, if i have a putt upcoming, I’ll look up the greens book and try to figure out what the slope is. I still can’t write that down but I can remember one putt. It doesn’t make the read automatic but good info I think nonetheless.

Did you know: I can watch the early broadcast to see how the course is playing and how putts are breaking. But I am not allowed to write down how putts are breaking or notes on my yardage book… Looks real tough out there….
