Regarding the loss last night. It stinks. I wish it was different. But being the 2 spot in the tournament format is not the end of the world for sure. That being said, it’s tough to be very excited at this point. The amount of opportunities that have slipped through this season is indeed frustrating to watch as a fan (and I’m sure also as a player). In a conference like the SBC, basketball is obviously a weak point Confrence wide. The past decade Marshall has shown signs of improvement in their basketball program, but it seems to have plateaued the past 3 to 4 seasons. Marshall literally let D’Antoni walk for having the exact same results we are seeing right now. There is still time for Corny. If he wins the tournament in Pensacola and we make it to the dance, much will be forgiven. But there’s no doubt that Marshall basketball is in a very strange spot. Some will say it’s crazy to not be satisfied with a 2nd seed in the tournament. But looking at the games lost, the chances missed, and the opportunities not seized. It’s clear that there is something missing.

Agreed. It isn't cute nor funny that any sport gets cut. Student athletes' lives and careers were abruptly disrupted...and it could leave a sour taste for them as the program that they relied on, let them down. But, folks like @GumbyMU think this is somehow a good thing.

It’s ignorant and the swim team is solid, provides the student athlete opportunity it’s supposed to without the insane “profit” share scheme. Football and basketball shouldn’t erase opportunities for others.
