@AmadeusBolshev American "leftists" are so bankrupt that their idea of a "revolution" is the struggle against an institution that hasn't existed in 200 years. All Americans are deeply reactionary

Unions are part of capitalism Rent control is part of capitalism State welfare programs are part of capitalism There is no abstract ideal capitalism, it doesn't exist and it will never exist.

@RevBlackNetwork Charity and greed are both human nature under capitalism. There is no dualism, they are both consequences of a specific issue that arises from aspects of capital like inequality.

Old fashioned Marxist 🗽
Old fashioned Marxist 🗽@laborrepublican·
Since WWI, the alternative has been "socialism or barbarism". This could also be rephrased: international socialism or national "socialism". I don't mean "nazism" per se, but "socialism" as a "national" project more generally. Another way of putting it: revolutionary-proletarian socialism or bureaucratic-reactionary "state socialism". The proletariat is an international class and can only emancipate itself through international solidarity and international revolution. In the face of its own self-contradictory development, capitalism by contrast is compelled to abandon its revolutionary footing and fall back into the embrace of the bureaucratic-reactionary state of the counter-revolution. The bureaucratic-reactionary state is "imperial" because it is the self-destruction and collapse of the bourgeois-democratic republic, out of which state power consolidates itself over and above society as the despotism of empire, the centralized and militarized state, the rule of the praetorians. The policy of such a state is invariably "socialist" in the sense of "socialism from above", "state socialism", "reactionary socialism": not socialism as the self-regulating cooperative society of freely associated producers, but "socialism" as the imposition of social order through state power upon a society that is incessantly tearing itself apart. Under such "state socialism" the control of the means of production, the productive apparatus as a whole, is no longer in the hands of "the people", whether in the form of private individuals, cooperative societies, or as the public property of a self-governing political community. While the legal form of "ownership" may apparently take any of these forms, the de facto control of the system of production is in the hands of the bureaucratic apparatus through which the class interests of the ruling capitalist class assert themselves over all others, even the interests of individual capitalists and capitalist corporations where necessary. The capitalist class rules internationally over the whole international system of production and the world market through which it is organized, but this class does not rule "democratically" with respect to its members, nor are the interests of its members simply uniform and identical. The common interests of this class dominate its members as well as the interests of society at large: the capitalist is only the character-mask of capital. It is the logic of capital accumulation that rules through the capitalist class and the capitalist state. Hence, capital rules and dominates the production process, and the whole superstructure of social and political life resting upon it, regardless of whether there are even any capitalists at all residing and operating in a given country, whether they play any role in the government of the state, or how they are treated under the law and government of a given state. The measures taken to maintain social order, and hence, economic existence, in every country are subject to the dictates of capital at a global scale. The political superstructure in every country, regardless of "ideology", must execute these dictates, or it will sooner or later come into conflict with the productive powers of capital, and consequently, cease to exist. Such political measures are thus so many means to ensure the reproduction of capitalist society and to maintain the economic foundation of that society: the accumulation of capital. "State socialism" is simply the general "policy" encompassing all such measures, and "national socialism" in every case encompasses those measures that are necessary to achieve this end in each particular national context, given that the division of society according to the international division of labor, the maintenance of national divisions out of the economic necessity of capital accumulation on a world scale (whether that coincides with or comes into conflict with the aspirations of the domestic capitalist class in any given instance). The present anachronistic division of the world into mutually hostile nation-states that run roughshod over the dismembered global society they govern, through so many forms of "national socialism", this is the consequence of the regression of society into barbarism due to the failure of the proletarian socialist revolution at the dawn of the 20th century. The solution to this dismal situation is the same now as it was in 1848: the proletarians of all lands must unite, organize themselves as a class into an independent political party, and win political power as a class, to begin with (at the very least) in the most advanced capitalist countries, the countries that form the most dominant accumulations of capital on the world market. The proletarians still have a world to win, and nothing to lose but their chains: the chains forged by so many forms of "national socialism". The so-called "left" sides enthusiastically with "national socialism" by embracing every division within the international proletariat, whether strictly "national", sexual, religious, "racial", etc, however "real" or "artificial", and insisting upon solidarity among the members of each "community" across class lines, while demonizing working class solidarity in every instance as "racist" and "sexist" and whatever else. These so-called "leftists" are the footsoldiers of the reactionary-bureaucratic state, of "national socialism": they are not "left-wing" at all, but the very definition of "right-wing".

@VenturCommunist The kernel of truth is actually a big fucking walnut Goes without saying, objectifying the proletariat as the subject of history without accepting them as 'subject' is cheap dogma
