I feel the need to come back to this one because this was the most aggressively dogpiled take I gave. Yes, Rudy slayed a dragon and wants people to talk to him. I'm aware of the plot logic. I'm aware of how much time Mushoku spends on trying to "make sense". But fiction isn't about "making sense". It's about stories and characters that you connect to emotionally. And I simply don't think it's a compelling creative choice to spend so god damn much time on this in Eris's story. Rudy spends Season 2 on a journey of self-actualisation. And while he was mistaken about Eris, it was a story arc where he learned to move on and grow from loss. I can talk about its many issues, but it was at least an arc that belonged to Rudy. At the same time, Eris's infatuation with Rudy is the main character of her time apart. Her main reason for getting stronger, and the thing she talks about at every chance. It's an uncompelling choice within a series that I already have far too many reasons to believe puts the lion's share of thought about its female characters into how the author would want to have sex with them.
