To me, the DMK’s review feels like the usual, customary routine. I'm really not trying to be cynical, but you have to look at the brutal reality: a vast majority of the last three generations, basically those born from 1995 onward, simply aren't aligned with either of the dravidian parties anymore. Think about it logically - that generational gap or disconnect is the foundational issue that actually needs a deep dive. If you just send the exact same set of people back into the field to do the assessing, they're going to use the same old lens that caused the blind spot in the first place. You can't expect a real, significant breakthrough when the people diagnosing the problem are part of the system that created it.

Appointments should be based entirely on competence, not gender. When you think about it, these individuals are the face of the government in the Supreme Court, and that selection needs to reflect absolute merit, nothing less. The problem is that @TVKPartyHQ seems permanently stuck in narrative-setting mode. But logically speaking, the elections are over and you are actually the government now. It’s time to shift from campaign theater to real administration, and this cinema needs to stop.

Today Supreme Court in the Election Commission appointment case, Justice Dipankar Dutta really expressed his great anger and disappointment with the law by which Modi government has removed chief justice of India from the selection committee and included a cabinet minister. These were some of the things he said (not in this order, not verbatim. Explanation added by me in brackets): What we do not understand how can you make such a law. When you make law, you have to apply your mind. Why this executive ghetto. Why do you want to micro-manage things (Election Commission appointment). Did you not know that this (new law) will be reviewed by Supreme Court? We have that power whether you like it or not. If this is the law, you included a cabinet minister, then why do you have the farce of having an LOP? For tokenism? Only to create an impression that this is actually a selection? Do you think the third member will ever go against the prime minister? The third member is someone chosen from amongst the hundreds of MPs to be a minister. Then out of many Ministers, hand picked person is included in the Election Commission appointment. Do you think such a person (special chosen person of PM) will ever go against the PM's choice? Your law will always create a 2:1 scenario. Why do this? Free and fair election is the basic structure of constitution.

He is sitting on a throne, calling the people who built it an infestation. This is Indian neo-feudalism in its purest form. Judges appoint judges through the collegium, answerable to no one. Contempt of court silences criticism. Courts remain inaccessible to the poor. And now, the head of this system has made his worldview explicit: scrutiny from citizens is not democracy functioning.
