@OKWU_ID Hi @OKWU_ID - really love your recreations of the hairstyles photographed by N. W. Thomas in the early twentieth century. We have been working with @ukpuru on this collection as part of [Re:]Entanglements re-entanglements.net Would you like to write a blog about this?

One of the key reasons for our 100 Years of Igbo Beauty project was the celebration of hair. Afro hair is unique and amazing. Wearing your natural Afro hair is not a trend. It has been part of Igbo culture, expression and identity throughout our history. #100yearsofigbobeauty

Some of the photos digitally colourised on Ụ́kpụ́rụ́ over the last year or so. The original black and white images are from the Northcote Thomas collection of the Royal Anthropological Institute and MAA Cambridge, working with the [Re:]Entanglements project.
