🚨Just published with @CSP_journal: A civilisational Imaginary of Western Military Technology. I look at how narratives of “civilisation” and “The West” distort thinking around the design, regulation, and use of military technology, including military AI. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Cybersecurity expert Marcus Hutchins (MalwareTech) sits down to cut through the 2026 AI hype, explaining why threat actors aren't using generative AI and why it won't replace tech jobs. Watch the video on YouTube: youtu.be/KsXzTz5H2QQ Big thanks to ThreatLocker for sponsoring my trip to ZTW26 and also for sponsoring this video. #threatlocker #ztw26 #ai

I’m asking myself: what is it about Shyam Sankar that I haven’t already read or watched… that suddenly requires a Colossus subscription?

@TeeMyst @217leeM Tag me too once you have the details. As someone who went through this with a relative, I know how every bit of help counts. People we didn’t even know stepped in for us.

One thing I learned very early in life was never to tie my progress to that of another person. This is why I opted out of corporate life early. Most Nigerians often glorify the concept of a helper or connector, believing they lack agency. As my oga @afalli aptly said, they keep focusing on an external locus of control rather than on personal agency and the ability to make things happen. I wrote my thesis for an idea here last week and asked for potential collaborators. All I got were CVs of people looking for a "job" instead of proposing a partnership. I was perplexed. I had clearly mentioned that I didn't want to manage people in that thread, but people were looking for someone to manage them. Only one person understood the message, and she sent a proposition on what to do. Sadly, she is in full-time employment, and my conscience won't make me ask her to partner with me. She got what I wanted and enhanced my thinking. This dependency problem is why bad actors thrive. It is why people sit idly by all day and blame the government without mobilizing to effect change. Complaining is NOT a strategy. Improve yourself and elevate your thinking.

Brook Benton released ‘Oh Lord, Why Lord’ in 1969 and the legendary Mpharanyana recorded the same song on Sesotho in 1976, ‘Oho Morena’. Jacob ‘Mpharanyana’ Radebe died in 1979 aged 31 from TB. An incredible talent.

In 1978, Mpharanyana from Katlehong township did a remake of the 1968 song ‘Take Time To Know Her’ by Percy Sledge. Mpharanyana’s version in Sesotho was ‘Nka Nako Ho Motseba’

There are artists who originally perform certain songs, which they either wrote for themselves or were written by others for them; but then comes another artist who takes the song, makes it their own and we forget about the original artist. Think about Adele, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and others. Here are some of the best song covers of all time 🧵

Larry Page and Sergey Brin tried to sell Google for under $1m so they could return to their PhDs. Paul Allen had to convince Bill Gates to drop out of Harvard. Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard took day jobs until pushed by a professor to start HP. Steve Wozniak wanted HP to build his Apple I design because he didn't want to start a company. Herbert Boyer had no interest in starting a company before Bob Swanson convinced him to start Genentech.
Will Summerlin@WSummerlinAI

The idea of convincing people to become entrepreneurs is ridiculous. If you need to be convinced, you shouldn’t do it. Starting a company is totally irrational—you need to be obsessed and committed to a painful, decade-long grind. Most people are better off as employees.
