I think one of the best in providing edu tech services in the world is @edXOnline , I was hoping to provide @OpenEdX could be setup in school and colleges for free, so they can have access to courses on premises. But unbearable cloud rates also had to be considered. Any solution

@__97bee Ah yes. The alternative to Docker was the native installation, which was worst (IMHO). Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about your Internet connection problems. Are you running on a server or your home connection?

@__97bee Out of curiosity, which issues did you face? In our defense, Tutor is complicated because Open edX is. Believe me when I say that we try very hard to keep it as simple as possible.

As of today, access to the Tutor documentation, forum and commercial website is blocked for users from inside Russia and Belarus. Requests are redirected to westandwithukraine.overhang.io We strongly encourage other open source maintainers to do the same.

@MrGrob Me too! CS50 Introduction to Game Development (from Harvard) learning.edx.org/course/course-… This course is a little bit advanced, as it does not cover the basics of programming. Also, the formatting is a bit of a pain (2h-long videos). But the content is awesome.

@abursuc @CSProfKGD I remember some very famous people from the computer vision community in that very room who argued that CNN worked so well only because there was "a bias in the data". This made me hysterical.

@abursuc @CSProfKGD It's really cool to be reminded of that moment, thanks for that :) With hindsight, I'm really glad to have been there at that presentation, and very proud to have understood what a watershed achievement it was.

@dckahc Serious question: why did you pick the Bitnami image and not the Tutor-based official installation?

Tried to be an amazon deployment specialist for a day. Failed terribly. Wasted my time working on (and failing to) installing a working version of #OpenEdX on #AWS. Anyone has experience deploying OpenEdX successfully on AWS with #Bitnami stack? PM me please

Python trivia which I just accidentally discovered: x: 1 This is valid Python 3.6+ code. Can you guess why?

Also, and that should be a big clue, the code snippet raises a SyntaxError in Python < 3.6.

Serious question: given that Docker support sucks on Mac OS, and it's even worse on ARM, and it's not changing for the better, why do devs who run Docker keep buying Apple laptops?
