Because you don't understand it, and if you did, you'd have a coherent argument to debate the religious with because you could explain the origins of their own religion to them. Because you'd understand your own mind and psychology, specifically how trauma protects you from horrible shit while conscious. They're never going to listen to you because right now, their fictitious god gives them some peace. So they're not going to trade that for what to them looks like your chaos. And all you ever offer them as an off ramp is "you're stupid for believing in a sky wizard" well to them, a sky wizard is better than your nothing. I'm giving you that off ramp for them to follow. this is the first post lolol You don't understand what a god is. To worship means you store your emotional security in an external object. You become willing to hurt yourself and other people to protect that object. Whatever that object is, becomes "your god." Your false idol. That is why "all gods demand worship," the act of worship is what makes it a god. Because you gave it power over your emotions and behavior as you now fear losing it and suffering emotional collapse. That is what a god is. You, as an atheist demand that "god" can only mean "santa clause" so your entire worldview is you being a grown adult that thinks you're a genius because you came to the conclusion that santa claus doesn't exist.
