This is why I get moody & hot when people try & blame the death of SEC wrestling on Title IX. You don't blame a 🔫when someone gets shot, you blame the shooter. Well Title IX was the 🔫in this situation & the original shooter was Charley Pell, soon to have many copycats.
Stephen Stonebraker aka JT1Wrestle@StonebrakerS

Real tragedy of Title IX is when Charley Pell of @FloridaGators figured out that Proportionality Quotas can be as easily achieved through - as they are through + 🪓 3 men's sports & those #'s match up. & suddenly there's some extra $$, Space & resources for your 🏈or 🏀team

@StonebrakerS @afellers01 Interesting... how does a program that spends the money Michigan State does produce the mediocre results year after year? Give some of these winning programs a bump!

Want to thank @afellers01 for sharing this. This is info that people need to know. Penn State operates at nearly $8 million per year. Don't see #79 on this list, but I'd imagine that it could be less than $100K We could stand to know this info when we praise & criticisize

With the NCAA tournament starting tomorrow check out where each school stacks up on their reported FY25 expenses top to bottom. *Not all schools included as private schools not subject to FOIA requests

@KyleMalzhan @jasonmbryant Hire Ben, Max, or both and you instantly win. Recruit from AWA and Northern IL so much under the radar talent. Green Bay is as close as U of I and Northern IL for some reason takes more kids from MI than their own hotbed. Green Bay also has much more to offer than both cities.

THREAD: The University of Wisconsin–Green Bay is in the early stages of exploring the addition of men’s wrestling to its athletic department - which would make it just the second Division I wrestling program in the state of Wisconsin.

When you think of the NCAA finals, what’s the first match that comes to your mind? For me it’s Yianni vs Bryce Meredith, an instant classic ✊🏿

@TheCoachSentes Yeah sounds like programs will have some sort of cuts to pad football and basketball. Unfortunately this is what NIL and revenue sharing is going to do to a lot of schools.

@leftystrat5 @NotTomNotTerry On the contrary more reason now than ever. With roster cuts that went into effect there were a lot of D1 guys that went down a division or 2. Also a ton of good seniors last year that were not committed yet couldn't find their way on D1 rosters that were already full

@NotTomNotTerry No. In the NIL/transfer portal era there is no reason a guy on the D1 level shouldn’t already be at a D1 program. But if you’re not and you really got a chip on your shoulder show up at the Open and show us what you got.

I take for granted that most DI coaches know how DII & DIII qualification works. Maybe some don't. I can't help but feel that if DI qualification worked as do DII & DIII, that Twitter would blow up with angry rants between now & the first day of DI nationals!!

@relentlessrb @StonebrakerS Division II is a policy that exists for all sports. Division III would be possible, but the problem is all of them run into the ratio issues that affect all sports (their qualifiers in all sports are determined by a set formula).

@MatScouts1 Not throwing shade to kids or conferences, but to Ben's point anyone of these wrestlers probably would be a SoCon champ.

@rwillie11 @SethVosters And as dangerous as Hardy is, that being said how does anyone bet against Mendez at this point.

I think Jesse Mendez wins another NCAA title, but I think Vega is the only chance to stop him. Very interested to see how seeding plays out, if Echemendia and Vega land on the same side of the bracket, I could see Echemendia beating Vega at NCAA’s.

@theiowalunatic @handsometuesda9 😂 I admire your unwavering support and belief but this is a 2 dog race with Mendez favored over Vega and Hardy having the outside shot. Always rooting for those IL boys though!
