@henrywinter Today was a lesson for Masters & Chelsea. Chelsea are a manufactured success story who have bought & cheated their way to success. Masters tried to relegate Everton & protected the brand, Chelsea. Everton are everything football should be. Chelsea are everything it shouldn't

@rory_donaghy @DI313_ Israel or America didn’t start this war and it’s not pretty innocent people die. Blame that on Iran.

Pete Hegseth, said with no irony whatsoever…. “The problem with Iran is it spends money on weapons and missiles instead of their people.” A bit rich coming from someone who announced that the U.S. government wants $200 billion for the war in Iran.

"What would you rather, a £10m fine or a ten-point deduction?" David Moyes believes the Premier League must clarify why Chelsea were fined for making secret transfer payments while others received points deductions for other rule breaches @_pauljoyce 🔽 thetimes.com/sport/football…

A media backlash against Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Spurs must start now. These clubs have ripped the heart out of football, supported by @premierleague @UEFAcom and @FIFAcom The European Super League Scam was just the start of this mass cheating.

The more you learn the more you realise that Chelsea have got away with murder. Secret illegal payments, not recorded in their books, to enable them to buy serious talent which might have gone elsewhere. £10m fine. Everton missed the PSR limit by a few quid. Points deducted. Wow.

The Premier League's Key Match Incidents (KMI) Panel has voted that Brighton should have been awarded a penalty against Arsenal, in their 1-0 defeat. Michael Salisbury was on VAR for this game. In December, the KMI Panel voted that Everton should have been awarded a penalty for William Saliba's challenge on Thierno Barry, as Everton also lost 1-0. Michael Salisbury was on VAR for this fixture, too. (BBC Sport)

Can’t argue this? It’s so obvious what’s happening here it’s scary. Corruption in plain sight. The same bullshit will follow with Man City 115 charges too, I bet.

PSR breaches get significant sporting sanctions. Undisclosed payments that involve “deception and concealment” get insignificant fines. Why? Column. open.substack.com/pub/henrywinte…

When Everton were sanctioned I felt sorry for them, but wrote a piece understanding the PL's position. Daft of me. I accepted the 'rules are rules' argument and assumed there would be consistency going forward. Instead there has been none. PL wanted 12 pts for Everton!

Interesting that in the Everton points deduction verdict the Premier League said “A financial penalty for a club that enjoys the support of a wealthy owner is not a sufficient penalty” and that “the requirements of deterrence, vindication of compliant clubs, and the protection of the integrity of the sport demand a sporting sanction in the form of a points deduction’. Presumably the Chelsea fine (which ultimately is just a deduction from what billion dollar Clearlake will pay to billionaire Abramovich from the £150m held back at the deal date) is then neither punishment, a deterrent or protecting the integrity of the sport? If I was an Everton or Forest fan would not be happy with this outcome.

£47.5m is more than double Everton's breach that led to a Premier League record sanction of 10 points being deducted (it was recalculated to 6 on appeal) While this is a different charge, the commission said EFC "gained no sporting advantage" but still agreed a deduction.
Martyn Ziegler@martynziegler

Updated: Chelsea receive £10.75m fine from Premier League for secret payments to players + unlicensed agents during Abramovich era. £47.5m spent off the books to sign Hazard, Ramires, David Luiz, Willian, Eto'o, Schurrle, Matic. thetimes.com/sport/football…
