This week, I visited St. Cletus Parish Food Pantry to meet with the dedicated staff and volunteers preparing for distribution. Seeing their work firsthand is a powerful reminder of how vital these services are.
I also spoke with them about the growing need for food assistance, threats to SNAP, and the importance of protecting WIC and TEFAP. I’ll keep working to ensure these programs and the people behind them have the support they need.

It’s long overdue that we have an energy policy in this country that puts consumers first. The Energy Bills Relief Act does just that. By strengthening consumer protections and ensuring large energy users pay their fair share, millions of Americans will be protected from price gouging that has burdened families for far too long.

I recently had the opportunity to join Pathlights in Palos Heights, a community organization supporting older adults, people with disabilities, and their families with resources to live independently and with dignity.
Pathlights provides essential services, including meals, to residents across six townships.

The president’s threat to wipe out an entire civilization is dangerous, reckless, and would constitute a war crime under both domestic and international law. This rhetoric undermines U.S. credibility, endangers civilians, and places American personnel in untenable legal, moral, and mortal jeopardy. Anyone in the Trump Administration who acts on this threat and violates the law must be held accountable, including criminal liability.
The urgency of the situation demands immediate action. This is the type of moment the 25th Amendment was drafted to address. The president is unfit to serve, and lives are at stake. The entire chain of command has a responsibility in this moment to step up and put their country over their loyalty to the president.

The more we do to improve the energy efficiency of our economy, the less we have to worry about volatile global oil markets or the economic harm of a president starting a war without a strategy or exit plan.

This morning, I had the opportunity to visit Village Theatre Guild in Glen Ellyn, a community organization with roots dating back to 1917, when it first served as a one-room schoolhouse. Now in its 62nd season, it stands as a testament to the power of the arts to bring people together.
It was inspiring to see how this space continues to cultivate community and creativity, an important reminder of why supporting the arts matters.

Last year, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans cut Medicare and Medicaid to give billionaires a tax cut.
Now, they want to cut health care even further to pay for their war.
The American people deserve better. We must end this war and stop these cuts.

House Republicans are rejecting a bipartisan funding bill that would pay workers at the TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard.
Speaker Johnson is instead choosing to continue the chaos at airports, all in the name of handing ICE a blank check with no accountability.
Shameful.

Trust in the Supreme Court has cratered. When decisions appear inconsistent, when power goes unchecked, and when accountability is in question, confidence in the courts erodes.
Here’s my Op-Ed on how to fix it:
