The American people deserve transparency but this administration keeps choosing secrecy. 🧵

Speaker Mike Johnson needs to call the House into session NOW and vote on a new War Powers Act. The House GOP must break with Trump or be complicit in the war crimes that may come from these erratic Presidential threats.

Trump’s latest threat to annihilate Iranian civilization is yet one more sign that there are no clear war aims in this ongoing action. I urge my House Republican colleagues to once and for all take back our oversight authority, start asking the hard questions and finally put some legislative controls in place of this war before it spirals well beyond our control.

Small businesses are absorbing rising costs from tariffs, with expenses already higher than this time last year. Relieving that pressure is critical to supporting small business owners and ensuring they can continue to grow and contribute to our communities.

High school students in Westchester are making a difference in the fight against food insecurity by connecting surplus produce from grocery stores, farmers, and local markets with community members who need it most. The next generation of leaders in Westchester and the Bronx are already making an impact where it matters most! Great work to all members of Food Web NY!

NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, has served to protect the democracies of Western Europe and North America from tyrants and would-be conquerors for decades. A top beneficiary of a US departure from NATO will be Vladimir Putin and the Russian oligarchy. To abandon our allies would be a scandalous and fatal decision for the future safety and security of America.

Another executive order has come out of the White House aimed at subverting our mail‑in voting practices. Federal overreach into elections sets a dangerous precedent, and opens the door to broader power grabbing that intrude on states’ abilities to run their own electoral systems.

When Mrs. Lafferty discovered she wasn’t receiving her full Social Security benefits, our casework team stepped in to help. We were able to get her benefits restored and accompanied by her husband, she sent us this heartfelt video to show her gratitude. Families in Westchester and the Bronx are getting real results with the help from our casework team. Take a look!

This weekend, I joined neighbors across Westchester and the Bronx to show what real democracy looks like. Together, we sent a powerful message: America doesn’t do kings - not today, not 250 years ago.

Today is National Doctor’s Day! I enjoy meeting with local physicians in D.C. and New York so we can discuss how to be supportive at the federal level. Thank you to all doctors in Westchester and the Bronx who continue to care for our community!

If the America people are paying the price of war at the gas pump, there must be transparency as to why we are in this conflict and how much longer it will be. Watch my full interview on this matter here: hudsonvalley.news12.com/power-and-poli…

Yesterday, there was a bi-partisan agreement among Senate Republicans and Democrats to end this DHS shutdown — but House Republicans chose a partisan path that will drag this crisis out even longer and keep all of DHS closed. Instead of passing legislation, approved unanimously by the Senate, that would fund TSA, the Coast Guard and FEMA, leaving ICE to be debated, my Republican colleagues once again put forward the same bill as before without any of the necessary reforms to ICE procedures. So, late last night, I voted NO on their bill giving ICE a blank check to continue its over-the-top behavior. It is crystal clear that MAGA recalcitrance to compromise gives us the crisis we now face - a shutdown that will continue.
