Happy International Women’s Day! The relentless efforts of women championing for their rights throughout history is laudable. Brave hearts have challenged and advocated for gender justice, women’s rights, reproductive rights, and gender equality. I humbly salute you all. ❤️

To close out Black History Month, I am proud to have presented resolutions to Mark Aguirre and Terry Cummings, two of Chicago’s very own stars at their college jersey retiring ceremony on Feb 24th at DePaul U. They both had long careers in the NBA. Chicago proud! #chicagohistory

February is Black History Month but it’s also the birthday month of my beautiful wife. I want to take a moment to applaud my Queen, my rock, my confidant, my safe space and biggest champion. I love you in a place where there is no space or time. God bless you, Happy Birthday. ❤️

Margaret Burroughs and her husband, Charles founded the Ebony Museum of Chicago in 1961, now known as the DuSable Museum of African American History.  It is the oldest museum of its kind in the USA: collection of thousands of permanent artifacts, works of art, books and programs.

Little Angels Learning Center is a beacon of hope in early childhood education, with an unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds. Impressive milestones: 100% teacher retention and 80% of graduates enrolling in gifted/selective enrollment/ magnet schools! #32ndDistrict

In honor of Black History Month, I want to celebrate Marva Collins. She was an educator, an activist, a believer in Black children and the communities they came from. She developed her own teaching style and empowered students in urban Chicago a.k.a “the Marva Collins Way.”

Martin Luther King is a civil rights icon; he had a profound effect on the national consciousness, and his impact stretches beyond the past into the right now. Let us do our part to carry on his legacy. “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” MLK

The community spoke-we listened. Today, elected officials stood together to announce a 2nd police district (8th District) on the Southwest side of Chicago! Thank you Alderman Marty Quinn for spearheading this initiative. It was my honor to stand with all of the stakeholders.

We celebrated the Joy of Christmas at my church @acogchicago with Pastor @drbyrontbrazier. It was a wonderful concert. It was also great to have @chicagosmayor with us and of course my wife @tnichols007 joined us. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Merry Christmas!
