My last few ideas completely flopped. So I've been spending time learning more about Micro SaaS and how to validate ideas properly. Wrote these rules for myself to use for future ideas. adds / thoughts? 1. 🔥 Problem (Most Important) I can describe the problem in 1 sentence. It is real pain, not just "nice to have." People are already trying to solve it (workarounds, Excel, manually, freelancers). The problem occurs regularly, not just once(daily - great) The problem costs time or money. 👉 If there's no pain → Stop immediately. 2. 🎯 ICP (Who Pays) I know the specific user (not "all startups"). They already have money (not "p with zero budget"). They are already spending money on something similar. I can find 50–100 of these people (X / Reddit / Upwork / LinkedIn). 👉 Bad ICP example: "Broke beginner founders." 👉 Good ICP example: "Devs with a SaaS making >$500 MRR." 3. 💸 Willingness to Pay I received at least 5–10 "I would pay for this" responses. Even better: someone already asked, "How much does it cost?" There are competitors already charging money. The price point is clear (e.g., $10–50/mo). 👉 Without this, it’s a hobby, not a business. 4. ⚡ Alternatives (Very Important) There are competitors (this is a good thing). I understand how I am simpler / faster / cheaper / better. I can explain the difference in 1 line. 👉 No competitors usually means there is no market. 5. 🚀 Distribution (The Most Underrated Part) I know where to find users (X, Reddit, YouTube, SEO, communities). I can reach them without a marketing budget. I have a plan for the first 50 users. I can write cold outreach (DMs / comments). 👉 Without distribution, even a great product dies. 6. ⏱ MVP Speed I can build the MVP in 3–14 days. There is one simple core feature (not 10 features). It can be launched without complex billing or full automation. 👉 If it takes 2 months → It’s too complex. 7. 📈 Value The product either: Makes money Saves time Reduces risk There is a measurable outcome (e.g., "+20% traffic", "-5 hours of work"). 8. 🔁 Retention (Will they come back?) The user will use this regularly. There is a reason to come back. Recurring value is possible (subscription model). 👉 One-time tool = harder to monetize. 9. 🧠 Simplicity (Critical) The idea can be explained in 5 seconds. There is a clear one-liner. 👉 Hard to explain → Hard to sell. 10. 🧪 Real Validation (Not a Fantasy) I have messaged 20–50 people. I received real feedback. I have made at least 1 demo / prototype. I have at least 1–3 early users. 🚨 Red Flags (If these exist - Stop) "That's cool" instead of "That's a pain." ICP has no budget. No clear acquisition channel. MVP is too complex. No competitors. No one responds to messages.

The vibe coding dream: build a SaaS solo, make $10k month, work remotely from anywhere in the world. Reality: launch and then figure out why no one is using it.
