@crierstar i hadn’t heard of the vanishing half, but maybe ion & oedipus rex for topics on identity, self-revelation and belonging. open water seems lyrical & reflective so try philoctetes !! kinda underrated but it deals with isolation, pain & masculinity. tons of emotional introspection

@crierstar 3) the whole oresteia tetralogy & prometheus bound feels like smth vicious lovers would like a lot (as one myself). cold, calculated revenge, anti-heroes, terrible but compelling characters. themes of ambition, power and corruption

finished this yesterday and i still can’t tell if I actually liked it or not

@kazbrekked i kinda loved that holly black included specific fae details like that ngl. it’s a lot better than just humans with pointed ears &/or wings. makes him feel entirely otherworldly in comparison to jude, which makes their clash and fascination with each other even more compelling ??

@gelsbelovedfitz this. i think it can be an extremely interesting situation to put a couple in. love the psychological tension, hedonism/sense of indulgence, guilt or self-justification, and fallout that comes with it. i can see why people would hate it in your standard romance novel tho!

am I the only one who doesn't care about cheating in a book... I dont necessarily need to root for a character for me to enjoy good writing and plot. the question now is if authors who write around the cheating trope can actually write lmao
