▶️ Improving health system resilience in prolonged emergencies demands structural transformations to address existing weaknesses and enhance responsiveness to future crises❗️

The report and a commentary @LancetRH_Europe by Kayvan Bozorgmehr, Martin McKee, Eilin Rast, Michel Kazatchkine, Akaki Zoidze and Nino Berdzuli (doi.org/10.1016/j.lane…) point to five areas for action:

📢Important new report covering the medium-term impacts of the war on Ukraine on essential health system functions and challenges and opportunities for transformative actions and policies in refugee-receiving countries⬇️

‼️ It is important for professionals to be aware of their discretion in interpreting the law. Prioritization criteria and power dynamics between health and migration policy should be made transparent to remain true to ethical principles and international conventions. ⏹️

❗️ Refugee outpatient clinics provide low-threshold access to health services but may paradoxically stabilize health inequalities when they double-check whether a service is truly necessary in advance. ⬇️
