In case you missed it, today, we published a new report ‘Care to stay’, with recommendations to address the crisis facing the social care workforce. The workforce is the foundation of the system. The quality of care depends on the people who provide it. Yet they are struggling.

@SheffCouncil @WiganCouncil @lb_southwark The specific interventions are all no cost, low cost, or plausibly able to pay for themselves, making them implementable today. The cost of implementing the strategies should be funded by the Better Care Fund, given the significant reductions in NHS demand they would deliver.

In today’s new report, ‘Care to stay’, we spotlight @SheffCouncil. They recently moved to ‘patch-based homecare commissioning’ approach, dividing the region into 'patches’ and contracting one provider per patch. This new commissioning approach has delivered impressive results.

This is why ‘Care to stay’ recommends expanding the Digitising Social Care Programme to include a list of technologies with the greatest return on investment and a directory of vetted suppliers. This would turbocharge technology uptake, unlocking productivity across the sector.
