@Marmas110189@yellinben@nostalgiafkninc So true. I haven't seen it in over 40 years, and it really is that memorable, especially for fans of the golden age of animation.
Disney color had its own distinct look, and that look can be attributed to their paint that they created in-house.
Known as “cel-vinyl”, Disney would mix pigments, precipitating chalk, and a gum arabic solution to create over 5,000 different shades of color.
The paint, a water-based gouache, was known for its smooth flow, thick texture, and perfect adhesion to the acetate animation cels.
The ink and paint lab was half chemistry, half artistry, 100% magic.
@Marmas110189@yellinben@nostalgiafkninc The actual title of the feature-length film is "Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studio", a live-action film featuring comic actor Robert Benchley stumbling thru the Studio's many depts. The Reluctant Dragon is an animated short the climaxes the film.
Here it is. The Legend of Zelda running on my Sega Genesis.
Like Legit. This is captured from my Genesis. Borrowed some features from Zelda Redux. Credit to those absolute kings. I've also added a few things. :)

@SirGiggles Bonus factoid: There's a Windows app called Midi2VGM used for converting midi to YM2612. But if you look in the zip file, there's a smaller app that does the same thing, but for PSG. Good for quickie conversion of midis you got from NSF.
@SirGiggles I've converted NES music to Genesis. First use NSF2MIDI to capture the tracks. Then convert to either the YM2612, or the PSG. PSG will give you more faithful sound to the NES, but YM2612 gives musicians more room to add flourishes.

@greayson2532 Level 2 boss music does a reprise to the melody from the main level 2 bgm. When I played it in the 90s, the reprise was almost always timed to the first time the boss fired it's massive laser. I think that timing may be lost on emulators.
@drummeryamaoh The only thing in TFIV that's a bit off is in Space City. There's a noticeable stretch where no enemies are around. I originally thought some mid-boss got cut from the US release, but I guess not. Still, I love TFIV to death.
@greayson2532@whiteninjaretro@kentosama_retro The White Ninja team definitely had a troubled development history, with one of them sadly passing away a few years ago. And I read they lost their distributor. (Megacat or Broke Studio?) I hope they eventually come thru, but all we have now is hope.
@retrovation19@whiteninjaretro@kentosama_retro If things seem to have stalled, I honestly don't know what's going on.
With development at a standstill, that's why I'm posting this—to see if there are any signs of life—because I really want to give Irena a full try.
But all we can do is wait a little longer.
@RXF91LM@otousan8810 Dragon Spirit for me too. Loved that in the arcade and the TG16. Coincidentally I was reading through the Book of Dragon Spirit last night for all the sheet music from the game.
@Worsel555 I heard about this for years, but this is the first I ever saw video of it. The girl's bird reminds me of Ardy Lightfoot from the SNES. (Not a bad thing to be reminded of. :)
Monster World IV remains one of those games where I am baffled by the fact it never came to North America back in the day. Great animations, good music, and challenging platforming.
@RetroClipper I bought this blind in '90 and liked it a lot. I laughed when I saw Jeff (the sunglasses guy) dressed as Dracula because he resembled David Letterman's stage manager Biff Henderson who'd occasionally dress up as a vampire called Count Biffula in the NBC days.
@thasega A few months ago, I was searching thru Japanese auctions for a FM Towns copy of Rocket Ranger, only to find an archived rom that despite the FM Towns using CDROM media, was only 2.2 MB in size! I guess it was ported practically intact from Amiga floppy disks.
@realMonsterBath I'd buy either, but I'd advocate for the Megadrive version. I'd love to have some of that authentic "Sunset Riders" style that we never really got back in the day.
Starting to question doing an Sega MD only version as my base game for the Deathwish Enforcers Spin off "Buddy Cops" or should I move it over to the NeoGeo and take advantage of being able to do way more detailed artwork...
Right now I'm just working on player sprites and coding the player movements.
Doing two versions of the game isn't an option since I'm a one man team for this game. Code base is the same but the music and the art would be drastically different.
Also I can use the current codebase to port Deathwish Enforcers SE over to the NeoGeo...
What to do, what to do... LOL!
@jpalmiotti I don't collect much art at all, but I was fortunate to get a pair of Red Sonja preliminary pages. I wish I had started sooner than I did. Those sketches should be published for posterity.
