Madrid fans buying into the “Mbappe is a bad teammate” narrative should just look at the timing. These stories only started coming out when his form dropped after the injury. Earlier in the season, when he was flying, the same media had no problem calling him a great teammate. We have seen this pattern before. When results improved after the Copa setback, Arbeloa was “fully backed” by the squad. As soon as Madrid had a few bad results, the same journalists started pushing stories about players being unhappy with him for a month. These are also the same people who pushed nonsense during the injury crisis, like scanning Mbappe’s wrong knee or treating Camavinga at the wrong angle. It is pretty obvious how this works. Sporting results change, and the narrative changes with them. They know exactly when to push these stories and milk the situation for maximum attention. The timing says everything.
