What can you say? If you understand what’s going on it was just a lot of fake overtaking. If you think Drive to Survive is real and listen to @SkySportsF1’s well paid commentators it was brilliant!!

@Formula1Wimbo @blueslide7777 I think that’s an unfair statement if you take NASCAR as an example. They celebrate their historic tracks, the teams and drivers. They make the race weekends very inclusive for fans but have not sold out their heritage to do so

@blueslide7777 My guess is that you're from the US. Your sports need instant gratification. Like basketball, a ball in the hoop every 20 seconds. I like sports where there's a long build up to something great and lasting. Like a carefully planned strategy to overtake in the last lap.

It's as if F1 does the opposite of what the core fans want. We don't like sprints, they want to do more. We don't like batteries, they do more. We don't like Street tracks, they plan more. We like classic tracks, they rotate them. #f1

@Formula1Wimbo F1 has always been a business, like any sport it need to generate revenue but it feels like the pursuit of profit and not what’s best for the sport is at the forefront of every decision since Bernie sold it. He was a businessman but these owners take it to a whole new level

@TheBishF1 People are quoting stats about the increase in overtaking but ignoring the fact it’s only because one driver blasts past on boost one corner then gets passed down the following straight by the driver he’s just overtaken because they can now use their boost button. It’s Mario Kart

The comments to this are not very surprising. I was really pleased for Zak Brown when McLaren became competitive but the way they have handled themselves since becoming dominant has really left a bitter taste and I find myself hoping to see them fall to learn a bit of humility
