around me, places like Chipotle and Chick-fil-A are hiring at about $19/hour. full time that’s roughly $3,300/month before taxes. after taxes you’re probably taking home around $2,900. average one bedroom apartment? close to $1,900. so most of your paycheck disappears just keeping a roof over your head. and somehow people still call this a “budgeting problem.” working full time shouldn’t feel like survival mode.

@Quote31490249 @CultureCrave @Variety Partially. Netflix proved it works first (all about that profit, baby!) and other platforms followed. Disney's a MASSIVE offender of this, HBO and Hulu (imo) are a lil better about committing to multiple seasons of a show.

@Quote31490249 @CultureCrave @Variety Netflix incentivized the rest of the industry to only invest in ten episodes at a time. It's cheaper. Whereas in the past, series needed year-round commitments, hence they'd commission longer lasting series instead of going season-by-season.

@VashKohime I truly don’t think this era is awful by any means. It’s simply that it could be so much more. Chibnall was ambitious but not thorough. He had excellent ideas but didn’t take the time to make them as great as they could be.

@VashKohime It became a delicate subject because there were so many elements at play. First female Doctor, diverse cast, etc. I think those are pros! The writing on the other hand is so jarring and inconsistent. There are good eps, there are a LOT of mid eps. Great ideas executed poorly.

When I did my big NuWho watch I went in assuming that the 13th Doctor era was going to be Secretly Actually Good because of what a talented actor Jodie Whittaker is and like 6 episodes in to her run I had oomfs talking me off the ledge

@WilliamWho27 I agree with this in principal. No film/television episode should be written with the INTENT to go viral. You're forcing a moment that needs to occur naturally IF it's going to happen.

I actually kind of agree with this in terms that focusing on hard core fans and social media fandoms over the casual audience is not the best idea. The result is usually a show that feels more fan heavy and chasing more social media moments more than natural TV.

@TrilbeeReviews That doesn't excuse both finales being ultimately disappointing. The real issue was they were too ambitious with the big budget and aimed for spectacle over the character-centric writing RTD is best at. It's the same reason Star Wars and Marvel are lacking in quality.

@TrilbeeReviews You can generalize this to writing for film/television as a whole. Most stories follow the same plots, story beats and themes but it's about the narrative you tell in between. It's like saying all artists write the same song because it follows the same structure.

Editing my next big video which talks about the Bad Wolf era as a whole, but it's worth pointing out that while 'The Reality War' is a significant improvement over 'Empire of Death'...RTD just wrote the same finale twice in a row and it's pretty shameless.

@AndrewOnSeeAIR I strongly believe we needed more consistency with this side of 15. He's still morally just, he's just angrier. stern. intimidating. We were ROBBED of more of Ncuti's Doctor. it's so disappointing.

It was a whole year ago when Lucky Day premiered, with the return of Ruby Sunday and UNIT. Despite it being a Doctor-lite episode, Ncuti Gatwa's performance in this scene is one of the absolute RTD2 highlights. #DoctorWho
