@GlamSpinTennis @jon_wertheim @Wimbledon Agreed. He tried, was denied and no doubt felt helpless. And yes lawyers are expensive, especially for someone who’s livelihood just went to zero overnight.
English

@jon_wertheim @Wimbledon But his note said he did confront it, prevailed, and lost his appeal at CAS. This is a very different fact pattern
You journos have said the appeals court is more lenient, and less punitive, but it wasn’t in his case.
Is there bias in his case?
English

In his last tournament (@Wimbledon ) he beat Taylor Fritz… Talented players in his mid 20s -ranked inside the top 60 - and decides he’s rather retire than confront the tennis antidoping machinery? Something is profoundly wrong here….

@jon_wertheim He was someone I thought of when Ms. Roxadustat’s news broke yesterday.

@Sommerset1616 @TheTennisLetter Lordy, you’ve totally missed the point. Have you ever hear of a metaphor? Maybe read 3-;4 more times and go ask someone to explain it, 😎

The comparison of Djokovic to Yoko Ono is the most ridiculous analogy I've heard from an athlete. In tennis, there's no 'breakup' caused by non-players; they're not a band, not on the same team. No girlfriends are involved. Djokovic dominates because of his skill, not some imaginary 'breakup.' Andy should be ashamed of his absurd comparison
English

Andy Roddick says Djokovic was like a cyborg during Federer/Nadal rivalry, mainstream fans were mad at him for it:
"I feel like Novak Djokovic is the guy who broke up The Beatles. He is like tennis' Yoko Ono. He is the one who we didn't want, didn't need. We had the rivalry, we had the lefty-righty. We had the contrasting styles. Then all of a sudden, this cyborg robot, but also someone who plays with a lot of emotion, comes in and is like, 'I'm not buying into the hype. I am complete. You can't go through me, you can't go around me. I'm gonna take the punches from these guys'. It was weird. It was almost like the kind of mainstream not tennis-centric fan was kinda mad at him for it.”

A male cyclist has dominated yet another female competition. ‘Trans inclusive’ policies make a mockery of fair sport. Sporting rules should reflect biological reality, not gender ideology, says @JamesEsses

Kudos to @Noahrubin33 for bringing many important issues - in Tennis and in life- to the forefront, with his Behind the Racket podcast and website
Ben Rothenberg@BenRothenberg
Really appreciated this episode—so rare to have players who haven’t yet retired talk openly about their tennis mortality and what a finish line could look like for them. Stopping is the one thing every tennis career has in common, so there’s a lot of universality on this topic.
English

@BenRothenberg I watched that match. I guess I missed something. Not a big fan of either's tennis or personality (on court) but I didn’t see Medvedev do anything unsportsmanlike

@pepsicocom @lawanda50 @chris_eubanks96 arthur wasnt as tall as Chris but chris killed it in the re-enactments, both in Citizen Ashe, the doc, and Ashe 68, the VR film ashe68.com

@lawanda50 @chris_eubanks96 Arthur wasn't that tall! 😁Congratulations, keep killing it on and off court.🦾👏🏿

Be sure to keep a close eye on Arthur’s double during the #CitizenAshe documentary 👀

What do you want to be remembered for? Arthur Ashe is remembered for much more than his status as one of the tennis greats. #CitizenAshe, a new CNN Film, dives into his life and achievements from athlete to activist. Join us for the premiere on Sunday, June 26th at 9 p.m. ET/PT

@IanKatzTennis @ReemAbulleil he wasnt "acting like a villain", he was perfectly behaved the whole match, whole tournament

@simonrbriggs @Annabel_Croft Thanks Simon but I don’t think I used the words all but over. I have said I am unsure and it will depend on how things heal. I hope we can all be more positive in such shitty times!

@BenRothenberg @racqetmagazine Ben well done these stories need to be told, Olga needs to be supported and most importantly believed!
Olga’s story also has the all-too-familiar scenario of a charismatic famous abuser that people just cant fathom is abusive.

Last week I traveled to New Jersey to hear Olya Sharypova’s story of what she says happened as her relationship with ATP Star Alexander Zverev deteriorated into physical and emotional violence last year.
Here, for @racqetmagazine, is Olya’s story.
