It’s wonderful seeing the future paediatricians accepting their ST1 offers today @RCPCHtweets I had urine thrown on me on my first day of ST2 paeds nephrology. It did not put me off and now I can’t imagine being away from the amazing renal kids! #paedsrocks #ChoosePaediatrics

When your well staffed department isn’t busy, and your senior clinical fellow very directly tells you that they would like to make the decisions today please and “do you think you might have some admin that needs doing?” 😂

A quick message of thanks to @WestHertsNHS Paeds A&E @rgburridge for taking excellent care of our son at the weekend, despite the current pressures. Especially to Dr Fred who was great 👍 Thankful that you are our local services 🙏🏼!

@rebeccamallick I introduce myself to parents and kids as Dr Kat (so they know I’m their doctor). I tell everyone else to call me Kat. I strongly encourage flat hierarchy. I need to know that if I’m making a mistake they can call me on it! Plus - it’s just nicer. 🥰

#MedTwitter question, warning may be controversial!Addressing consultants - first name or Mr/Miss. I ask everyone to call me Rebecca, however almost all my male counterparts are Mr. Persist in trying to lower hierarchy for all? Or am i worsening the deep misogyny in the system??

@Matt_ParaACP @DrNickTwit @Paediatric_ACP 1 approach but maybe not the most practical answer is to have a kid, you’ll remember when they do stuff, roll, crawl, walk, talk etc etc and you’ll prob look it up to check if they are early or late

A question for paediatric peers, do you have any clever ways to remember Mile stone development? It refuses to stay in my brain! @DrNickTwit @Paediatric_ACP any suggestions? #ACP

Parents can tolerate more uncertainty than we think. It's about how we frame it: • We don't yet know exactly what's going on. • We've checked for serious and urgent things. • Things may become clear in the next few days. • Please come back if they're not getting better.

Stop giving children a choice where there is no choice. Start offering choice where there is one: • What shall we watch? • Which hand shall I use? • Who would you like to sit with? • Which sticker would you like afterward?
