@marketingeyeaus So many we had to build a captcha company. Those and fake job seekers are overwhelming some of our sites.

@eevblog Hold on, levies on exports? That is crazy anti-business.

1: Buy $ billions in AI hardware. 2: Manufacture a crisis so that NVIDIA cannot sell more GPUs (they are not Enron, right?). 3: Enjoy a 5 year monopoly. 4: Profit.

@eevblog The late fees are outrageous. If I added similar terms to a contract, it would be deemed unenforceable.

Pay the government $329 every year for nothing or we'll shut your business down.

@marclou People selling the same SaaS over and over, with different names, but mostly same codebase.

RAM prices going up create a huge incentive to build memory efficient AI models. The memory efficient models will in turn reduce the value/demand of current hardware, further increasing the odds of an AI bubble crash.

@artillain Same here, I downgraded my subscription on a similar feeling. Communities should be built on people we follow, and interests that attract us, not on engaging slop.

Decided to let my X subscription lapse this year. This website rewards BS content way too much and drowns out smart people. It's not just me, i notice that the smarter the poster, the less and less interaction they get. I spent way too much time hitting the mute button to improve the signal to noise, and this site had way better discussion quality a few years ago even when it was a self-ignited political dumpster fire. I think maybe they are letting AI drive the algorithm and we're getting bad results? Regardless of the cause, if the brain drain problem gets worse, i'm out of here.

Bot traffic dropped considerably during the AWS outage (super efficient Rust binaries serving traffic running on Akamai)

The Nvidia DGX Spark is such a disappointment. Apple silicon and AMD AI CPUs beat it on most real world scenarios. Where are the comparisons from "independent" tech reviewers?

@artillain Yeah, we are adding a slop generator to trap bots on our WAF. Do you ban the IP addresses permanently, or only for a certain period?

@rgmcorp For example: - ignore certain pages or paths - redirect other pages to a custom log, then apply different rules to them Another fun thing i like to do: - rate limit for 401 ( access denied ) - modify application to emit 401 in key areas to trap bots

Can't believe my fail2ban server protection is providing a 90% bot/scraper traffic reduction whereas the best cloudflare setup i've seen is only doing 50% on a site on the same platform with the same content. Guess i can say i proved the thesis that, if you utilize signals from the server and software, instead of just looking at traffic, you can do a better job, even in the AI scraper hellscape era Looks like another chapter for my book..

@eevblog Yeah, it's crazy. There are lock up garages in Potts Point or Pyrmont for a lot less per SQM.

@rgmcorp For reference, I paid under $2500/sqm for my dungeon, just a short distance from this. Not $25,000/sqm, I didn't miss a zero.

Had to spend Saturday night blocking aggressive AI crawling bots. After blocking 30 broad /16 IP ranges, CPU usage was back to normal. The crazy thing is that most of the traffic came from Singapore, IPs seem to be owned by Tencent, and around 50 concurrent requests at any time.
