@stephenkeeler Just watched a news article.about changing habits of the French. Seems like most of them eat breakfast in under 10 mins and the baguette is becoming less and less common for a longer shelf life sliced white loaf. Made me feel sad on all accounts😢

Nothing, but nothing beats French coffee, baguette, salted butter and French jam at this time of the morning.

@Mahler18601911 I have been bitten by the Don Giovanni bug since I saw a production by opera North in the UK must be early 2000's where cupid fired an arrow and killed the Don. Amazing. I think there are some recordings of the Prague version. Must look on Spotify.

@rheingold74 I was in Prague in 2023 to meet a musicologist friend of mine. We spent an evening at The Estates Theatre where Don Giovanni was premiered conducted by Mozart. Mahler also conducted there. We saw "The Marriage of Figaro".

Starting two private reading groups (Full) next week on THE HOLY BIBLE and JOURNEY TO THE WEST. Drafting the week before emails at lunch today, always a bit exciting, thinking about what the next 80 weeks and 35 weeks will hold for two dozen plus fellow readers and friends.

@encorebennett @Old_But_Gold50s Absolutely. So many amazing recordings with this trio. I quite like Bonynge's conducting when with them there is a certain thrust and quality. When you watch videos of him he looks like a man who took no sh*t an old school conductor.

@Old_But_Gold50s That Bonynge-Sutherland partnership was something special. And Pavarotti in his prime here. The phrasing, the breath control. A recording I return to often.

Gripped by the BBC production of Oedipus Tyrannus from the 1980's and Michael Pennington's amazing performance as Oedipus. His diction and change in character. Wow. Saddened to read he died last month in his early 80's.

People posting about a production of La Fanciulla Del West. Blessed to have a number of cracking recordings. Not sure anything beats this cast or the sound engineering on this one. Right from the get go it hits you. Amazing recording.
