6 startups raised via OpenVC recently. I want to ship a cool gift to their office. Not another bottle of champagne, though. Sthg fun and on brand. I'm bad at creativity... Any ideas?

Sharing non-simplistic ideas online is difficult. A lot of people just try to see if your message matches/challenges their pre-existing beliefs, then react programmatically. Zero reading, only pattern-matching. 🙄

@RichDecibels By the time people get to the “paint washes off part” of the headline, the brains are already off and reptilian brains scream SCANDAL!

I get the “your protest strategy is dumb & counterproductive” but the “spraying cornflour on stonehenge is outrageous vandalism” really is a headscratcher

Building the AGI? Hell yea Humanoid robots? Absolutely! Drug labs in space?! Go for it!! Astrroid mining operations? YES! Improve the European bureaucracy for startups even slightly?? LOL. Pick something less ambitious maybe?! 💀 😬

Best lever for pre-PMF founders: geo-arbitrage. - Build in San Francisco: $6,000/mo - Build in Salt Lake City: $3,000/mo - Build in Buenos Aires: $1,500/mo Same quality of life. Less stress. More runway. ✨

@inthecompanyof Hard problem, because so many things are compound materials (like coating inside fresh packs) that are not easy to separate and sort. So you can only downcycle those materials. We need a gut like thing that can split stuff into base materials. Human body is magical...

🧠🧠🧐♻️I keep thinking about tech enabled recycling. It feels like recycling needs a reboot and litter in many places is disgusting. 📚Who should be reading and listening to? Any recommendations?

@madelinelawren Gut feel is integrated experience through high bandwidth and fast pattern matching. It's like an LLM - confidently wrong outside experience, that's where data can help. But if there's only one, gut allows to move a lot faster.

@madelinelawren Water expands as it freezes, liter is a volume (1 dm^3), density (weight per volume) is highest at 4C, so a liter of water warmer or colder than 4C is lighter than one at 4C. It’s an anomaly, most liquids just get denser as they cool - we would not exist without it though.

@sophiaamoruso Make it easy for startups to self select and then know where they might find a warm intro to you, so: Thesis, criteria (market, stage), team (with X/LinkedIn link), investments. Also say what you’re not investing in. Make that info parseable.

One more question before I go into mediation with this grifter of a roofing contractor for the rest of the day: what venture firms have the best websites and what information do you think needs to be articulated on one?

@StephNass It’s easy to feel that way, but that’s a feeling - Google is extremely profitable and has a range of products that won‘t go away. I would not bet against them. Most recent episode of @lexfridman podcast has some interesting insights into that :)

I feel like Google is now officially a Tier 2 company. It's not just the Gemini debacle. It's Google Domains going away. It's Google Cloud's irrelevance. It's losing the YT adblock battle. It's the LLMs coming for Search. Google is the next Yahoo? Ironic.
