“Wow. This one is special because it was one of the last nights that it was all 4 of us as a group: (L-R) Zulu Butterfly, Irie Lion King, Abstract Rude & Ebony Prince, taken in '95 on Day One of our epic Grand Royal funded shoot by renowned LA photographer Brian B+ Cross. This was the end of a long multi-location shoot that had us traversing from the upper thorny hills of Mt. Washington to the icy cold, but beautiful shores of El Matador beach, out past Zuma. We were owning it though, locked in channeling the mystics of the sea and our brotherly connection.”

“From the length of our hair and my Soundset 2008 T-shirt, this was like sometime between 08-09 or so… I can't recall where, but I can tell that Zulu Butterfly and I are performing the song "Yep", a fan fav classic off of the P.A.I.N.T LP. I can tell because we have a step and strut walk routine on that song that we can sometimes break into, and so our positioning in these pics lets me know 100% that's the moment where we do that…hahaha... It gets a good crowd reaction because people love to see movement and watch us go from free form, to in sync outta nowhere... That's just who ATU is, was and shall always be. We kinda brought that afro-futurist vibe to South LA back then.
