BTS would’ve only gotten a participation certificate aka not a Grammy while rosé & Bruno would’ve received an actual Grammy for soty/roty

and i think the fact that bts’ success has even gotten them this category shows that they were always successful enough to win the grammys they were nominated for. grammys just don’t wanna award them for awards they definitely deserve for such a globally successful comeback

the timing of a new “asian pop” category while a major asian act is having one of the most successful albums globally really exposes the problem: it’s segregation and not inclusion. when non western artists are still underrepresented in major categories, it doesn’t feel like recognition for the asian music market, but containment. they deserve to win, but they cannot, so let’s give them a candy that excludes them a bit further. at least it looks pretty, right? it’s unfortunate how the “how are you so shameless” line from aliens always hits.

@grandepjm Well army’s only reason for why bts should win anything is numbers so the major awards are guaranteed to go to Taylor swift by that logic so BTS’s only hope will be the new best Asian pop performance catagory for which most of arirang(potentially all of it) is ineligible anyway
