Our attendance has improved significantly this year. Now above NA for FSM and NFSM students, FSM attendance has improved 6.6%! Nudge texts have been useful. We use/adapt a bank of 80ish templates throughout the year. Happy to share.

This has been a really rewarding piece of work to bring together everything we have done @olympustrust and much more into a new Trust Improving Attendance Handbook- its nearly there! No repeating of statutory guidance or policy- just ideas to support improvement.

This week at BHS we’ve introduced an entry and exit routine to all classes. Students come in in absolute silence and stay that way for the first 5 minutes. Staff feedback this evening was awesome to hear! The power of routine, boundaries and consistency!

@joe__kirby We’re not nationally leading. Far from it. But we’re determined and committed and I couldn’t want for better colleagues. We do ‘Lead Lessons’ i.e. culture assemblies every term with all our students. Over-communication with students (and staff!) important to ensure we’re clear.

At the start of every half term, we have assemblies with every year group, where we explain clearly WHY our shared values are important HOW those values are evident in our culture and WHAT our systems, structures, rituals and routines are. A golden thread throughout.
