@Annie_Wu_22 All of these ‘apartment of a 30-something woman’ make me sad. The conspicuous absence of tiny clothes, messy hand prints, crumbs on the floor. They are all tastefully lit, impeccably styled, and lifeless.

i need a book written entirely from the villain’s point of view… except you don’t realize they’re the villain until the last few chapters.

I don't even sub to Netflix anymore because every show I thought was good would get cancelled after like one season. They literally trained people to not care about shows because they never committed to them unless they were wildly popular. That and subscription fatigue.
Lucas Shaw@Lucas_Shaw

Netflix's top shows have been losing 30-70% of their audience between seasons 1 and 2. Executives are trying to figure out why. Netflix's second season swoon & more in this week's newsletter: bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

@thintechgodhead How was it in your childhood? What are your safe foods and how did you discover them? What do you enjoy about the foods you like? What happens in your mind when you think of a new food that you haven't tried yet - does it also cause a negative reaction?

hi, i have ARFID so severe that I get IVs to make up for my inability to keep me hydrated through oral fluids alone. I think you don’t know what ARFID actually is, because you are describing something that would work for normal picky eating without recognizing what makes it a disorder. genuinely open to answering questions about it if you have any!
Hermitus Quailmin@Cstorm1166

No that is how you fix it. You show them what a well balanced meal looks like. You just don't cave when they try to eat only the chicken tenders. You don't force them to eat it all, you just don't give them anything else until they do.

@twitchyspoonie Would you be able to explain the difference? I had Covid pre-vaccination so I'm wondering if I'd be able to make this distinction in my own case

@rickygreenbeans Yeah, I agree with the other people who commented. I think screens used the wrong way and too much can cause some issues, but not like covid. I have cognitive issues from a flu when I was a kid, before I had a smart phone and social media was a big thing.

No one is going to want to admit to or talk about their cognitive issues after covid if you talk about them like this though lol. As someone who also has post-viral cognitive issues, the way a lot of y'all talk about that is dehumanizing and irresponsible.
Brunette@mimizima_

It’s some real 1 + 1 = 2 shit like… a virus prone to causing brain damage has spread unmitigated though the population for half a decade. And now society is full of people who are stupider, meaner, more impulsive, less empathetic. It’s not surprising! At all!

@EmberExplores @twitchyspoonie You stated something that wasn't complete and I added more information that makes me believe what I said in the first place. You're free to dispute it further instead of whatever this reply is?

@rickygreenbeans I think both. Short-form content decreases attention span, plus so much misinformation and rage-inducing content online. And the algorithm is meant to keep you scrolling.

@EmberExplores @twitchyspoonie Tiktok wasn't popular until 2020, other types like YouTube / Facebook / Instagram shorts didn't launch until mid 2020 / 2021. I'm not saying "phone bad", I'm saying watching hundreds of 10 seconds videos per day is probably responsible for a lot of cognitive decline in people

@wildcat_of @laserloony @twitchyspoonie Interesting! But it sounds like your time online is not short form content but more reading / finding community / texting etc. I don't think these are bad

@laserloony @twitchyspoonie Did you use it as extensively? For me personally TikTok & Reels have been extremely detrimental to my brain fog, fatigue, ability to focus and complete tasks..

@sanguines13 i think therapy was invented for people who didn't spend most of their days thinking about themselves and talking it out.. watch some old kitchen nightmares episodes. those ppl need therapy. we have a new flavor of mental illnesses that needs new approach

@Favwontmiss I used to do it as a kid / teenager and I remember thinking that imagination is something no one can take away. I promised myself to never stop having those elaborate scenarios because everyone else seems boring. Here I am, years later, all my dreams are about bills and work.

Anyone else create elaborate fake scenarios in your head where you’re the main character just to fall asleep? Just realised I’ve been doing this since childhood. Romantic plots, alternate lives, comforting storylines, full production. Is this a neurodivergent thing or have I just been directing bedtime cinema for 30 years?
