It’s called tradition. I am no historian but it is likely that the custom of barristers wearing wigs predates the foundation of the USA probably by years, if not decades.
We lose our traditions, customs and quirks, however (old-fashioned or slightly eccentric) at our peril.

Two men live in Zone 2 London.
Both are around 30. Both sleep in a one-bed flat.
But only one believes he has a future in the city.
James was born in London.
He went to university, got a degree, found a decent job and now works at a marketing firm near Old Street.
He earns just under £60,000 a year.
On paper, he is doing well.
But every month James opens his payslip and watches a third of it vanish before he ever sees it.
Income tax.National Insurance.Student loan.Then comes the rent.
Nearly £2,000 a month for a small one-bed flat with mould around the windows and a landlord who only renews the tenancy six months at a time.
Every evening James scrolls Rightmove looking at tiny flats he cannot afford in the city he grew up in.
Even the cheapest one-beds near him now cost around £400,000.
The deposit alone feels impossible despite earning more than most people in Britain.
His parents bought their first home younger than he is now.
James still does not know if he will ever own one.
So he keeps renting.Keeps waiting.
He watches friends delay children.
People earning what used to be considered “good money” still checking every direct debit before payday.
Now meet Shaheed.
He arrived in Britain recently and was granted refugee status.
He does not work.
He lives in a one-bed flat in East London. His housing costs and council tax are largely covered through the welfare system.
He qualifies for free prescriptions, dental treatment and eye tests.
He does not spend his evenings worrying whether the next rent rise will wipe out what little he has left at the end of the month.
And this is the part driving so much public anger.
James works full time, pays a fortune in tax and still cannot see a long-term future in the city he was born in.
Shaheed does not work, yet has more housing security than the man whose taxes help fund the system.
That is how a city loses its young people, because they stop believing hard work leads anywhere.
London has to become a city where the people who work, contribute and build lives here can realistically afford homes, raise families and feel secure again.

After finally reviewing the footage at Bristol, here’s an exclusive clip of two students grabbing me by the neck as I attempt to get my banner back from another student who stole it. This event had hundreds of students debating me on abortion, and many began cheering as I was being physically assaulted by a group of students while, at the same time, another student was stealing my equipment. There was only one police officer in attendance who, of course, had a rainbow lanyard on, and she refused to intervene. In fact, I am now being investigated for physical assault myself. Of course, sorry for the disgusting clothes. This was just after a tub of curry was thrown at me by another student. I’ll be writing to University of Bristol complaining about this assault, as this is getting absolutely ridiculous. Equipment from that day is still missing after students grabbed it during the incident.

Arabs in Austria established the same system of underage sex slavery as the UK. (Why wouldn't they?)
They approach underage girls, lure them into taking drugs, make them dependent on them, and sexually abuse them in groups when they are passed out. Some of the girls are as young as 12. Many do not survive.
- In 2025, seven minors died of drug overdoses in Vienna alone.
- In recent weeks, three girls aged between 13 and 16 have died in Innsbruck alone as a result of drug use.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Dozens of cases of near deaths of young Austrian girls related to drugs.
A victim described how it works: Austrian girls are "recruited" in smaller towns and hooked on drugs.
In Vienna it is already hard to find indigenous girls outside gated communities, so the foreign rape gangs scavenge the country.
When the girl is enslaved, a handler brings her to Vienna, where they have rented several flats. The girls, as young as 12, are drugged and raped systematically by Arabs. When their health starts to crumble, they are brought back to smaller towns to recover for a while, only to be recycled.
Sometimes they die. The Arab handlers don't want that. It creates hassle with the police and costs them money. So for every dead slave girl there are probably hundreds more who live in endless horror in Arab rape dungeons in the middle of Austria.
The cases have been covered up for years. No investigations, no official numbers. But the bomb is about to explode.
There will be, and there must be, a reckoning like in the UK.
I will not stay silent on the issue.
