Wading into the Syrian Dirty War was always going to be fraught. Hating Assad is easy but it’s not an analysis. I spent my military service watching the US use the crimes of other governments to justify war, interventionism and a disregard for sovereignty. That’s why I don’t so much focus on the atrocities of America’s Geopolitical rivals. It’s still a unipolar world for now, kind of, and we are the Empire. Also, I don’t vote in Russia. Everything I’m going to discuss going forward in Syria is going to be focusing on US policy in the region, because it’s dirty as f*ck and my government needs to be held accountable. Having to say “Assad is Bad” every five seconds is exhausting and stupid. Anyways, the opening of the Syrian front is meant to, from a simply Western perspective, destabilize the flow of weapons and intelligence to the Axis of Resistance in the region, specifically Hezbollah. Many innocent civilians will be killed by militants on both sides and Israel is the true beneficiary. If you can’t handle that I don’t know what to tell you.

As Biden himself repeatedly complained, Ukraine’s goal is to draw NATO directly in the war. That’s the purpose of this, it draws the US directly into war with Russia. From the Biden faction’s pov, better to leave Trump in direct war with Russia than let Trump cut Ukraine loose.
