I think part of the disdain or aversion toward Eruri comes from not being able to understand (or not wanting to, because they can’t accept it) the narrative purpose of Midnight Sun. And it ties into the image of an immaculate hero that Levi has built: someone who doesn’t fight for power or fame, but out of a genuine desire to use his strength for the greater good. He’s not the kind of person who would make a selfish decision out of love for someone, and so, to them, the rooftop decision is anything but what it actually is. But Levi, even though he fights for humanity and fulfills his duty, and that’s precisely why he chose to follow Erwin, is human, after all. And there is only one person capable of making Levi forget, even for a moment, the hero he believes he has to be simply because he possesses above-average strengtn. And yes, that person is Erwin. This isn’t about portraying Levi as some lovesick idiot who lives only for Erwin’s ass, like people always accuse us of doing. It’s about seeing Levi for what he is: a flawed human being. We’re not just saying Erwin was the person Levi cared about most for no reason, Levi’s own subconscious gives him away: ✅You have an injection that can bring someone back to life, you’re surrounded by corpses, and only one face comes to mind. ✅You find yourself in the middle of the end of the world, and you allow yourself a moment to give in to your most intimate thoughts, and the first thing that comes to mind is your commander who died four years ago and the promise you still can’t fulfill. And even then, at the end of it all, you still say you don’t regret not choosing him, even though that might have prevented the chaos you’re now in. ✅ And most importantly: in your hands lies the future of humanity, as well as the fate of what remains of your comrades, and you choose to prioritize that person’s peace and freedom, you let them go. Not because you don’t love them, or because they’re no longer necessary, but because you can’t bring them back into hell. We have to remember that Midnight Sun is about unbearable loss and farewells—and whether we can endure them or not. Eren and Mikasa (and ultimately Eren more than Mikasa) couldn’t bear losing Armin; that’s part of the immaturity of being a teenager. But Levi, as an adult, chooses to bear the loss of the person he loved most because it’s the only way to save them. Saying that Levi prioritized Erwin by letting him die is not delusional shipping, nor is it diminishing his character, it’s what the story shows. This is the brutal way Isayama portrays love.

@komodopotato I get you!! He's been thru a lot & I'm sure he's struggled with riding the peak of mainstream success to experiencing hate trains & no longer feeling relevant etc. but he's also been doing this for over 20yrs. I think he's gotten to the point he's finally accepting that's he cant

yunho has said multiple times in the past about wanting to be married by a certain age, and then he'd pass that age, move the goal post back, because he wanted to focus on his career. i think the day decides that he is ready to settle down, is the day he feels comfortable with
