Former #AZCardinals Pro Bowl QB Kyler Murray has signed a 1-year deal with the #Vikings, per me and @TomPelissero. Minnesota moved quickly after Murray’s release from Arizona, and now will have the former No. 1 overall pick compete with JJ McCarthy to start.
I had a different opinion before, but now I don't understand the thought that the #Vikings signing Kyler Murray means Minnesota should be done with J.J. McCarthy Absolutely not, let McCarthy stay Take the pressure off him, let him actually get to practice each week without getting hurt, and since Murray's not known to be the most durable QB in the world, McCarthy should still get a couple of chances to play in 2026 If Murray ends up playing well in 2026, then you figure out what to do with McCarthy in 2027, but until then, let him take a step back for a year because it might end up being the best thing for his career

ESPN sources: Vikings are trading DT Harrison Phillips and a 2027 7th-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 6th-round pick and a 2027 6th-round pick, pending Phillips’ physical. Phillips now joins Jowon Briggs as the second DT that the Jets traded for Wednesday.
Vikings practice/scrimmages ended. Tai Felton looked like he dinged his arm, didn’t return but stood on sidelines. Jordan Addison jammed something and finished practice on sidelines. Jeff Okudah walked in after trainers were looking at right foot. Didn’t see Harrison Phillips.
Training Camp “stats” are insane and ridiculous. Used to think it was always just people joking, but now seeing them seriously reported. You have no idea what the purpose of that period is, what the goals are, what the context is, etc. It could be a strictly 3rd & Long blitz period where every play is skewed to the defenses advantage. Coaches could be asking the QB to focus specifically on one route concept. DLine may be focusing only on bull rushes one day or just speed rushes for one period. More importantly, practice is for practicing. You’re supposed to fail. You’re supposed to try new things, see what works and what doesn’t work, etc. If you only do what works, you’ll never grow, adapt, change. The entire point of training camp is to build and grow towards the season so that you perform your best when the real games start.
